He remained relatively healthy, recording 70 catches for 744 yards and seven touchdowns—though funny enough, he also threw an interception. Despite the turmoil within the Bears coaching staff, Allen proved he’s still a valuable player in the league and a safety net for Williams.
The Bears acquired Allen via trade last offseason, and now they face a key decision on whether to bring him back. Allen has expressed his desire to return to Chicago mid-season, and ESPN recently provided an update on the situation.
“Returning to Chicago is an option for Allen.”
However, another team has emerged as a potential suitor. The Los Angeles Rams are expected to trade Cooper Kupp this spring, creating an opportunity for Allen to land in L.A. If he joins the Rams, he would likely serve as the third option in Sean McVay’s offense. Allen has also stated that if he doesn’t return to Chicago, he would prefer to go back to Los Angeles—though many assume that means a reunion with the Chargers, the Rams are now gaining momentum as a landing spot.

One concern is whether his presence would slow the development of rookie receiver Rome Odunze. However, Allen as a third option alongside DJ Moore and Odunze in Ben Johnson’s offense is an intriguing possibility—especially since Chicago’s previous coaching staff struggled to maximize the team’s weapons last season. If the price is right and it’s a mutually beneficial deal, bringing Allen back is worth considering. That said, the Bears shouldn’t get into a bidding war for him, as they have plenty of options in free agency and the draft.

They need a speed burner not another possession receiver. How about they coach up Scott. The guy has hardly been given a chance by the last 2 OCs. They have proven they are not good at their jobs. Maybe Johnson can figure out what Scott does well and they get to use his speed. He’s already on the team. Doesn’t cost much, and is young.

Let it go on Allen, Eric, I for one am getting tired of you coming up with lame stories. I know you have to write a few articles, but surely you can be a little more investigative in what to write.
Allen? “What a drag it is gettin’ old.” I would let him go, but my HC Ben might find him more useful for a growing Caleb in his second year. I shall rightly defer to him.
I am going to say, “NO”. He’s lost a step but also his quickness in and out of breaks is not there anymore. On top of that he had a lot of drops, which was uncharacteristic for him. So, what — one more year? Why? We’re better off getting the next guy ready and building the chemistry with Caleb now. I could see if 2025 was our SB year but I don’t think Allen will be here WHEN that happens.
