The Bears fell to 4-3 after a heartbreaking loss to the Washington Commanders. The game ended in dramatic fashion, as Jayden Daniels completed a hail mary pass reminiscent of an Aaron Rodgers hail mary, shattering the hopes of Bears fans nationwide. While the Bears defense and special teams held their ground, the offensive performance was rough. Looking back, this loss feels even worse than I initially realized.
The Bears are in dangerous waters.
Although this loss is painful, what truly stings is how it impacts the Bears playoff chances. The NFC North remains on a historic pace, but the Bears loss now leaves them falling behind, struggling to keep up with the other three teams in the division. Here’s where things stand in the NFC North after Sunday:
Lions: 6-1
Packers: 6-2

Vikings: 5-2
Bears: 4-3
Winning on Sunday would have been huge for the Bears and their playoff hopes, keeping them firmly in the race for the division crown. However, the Bears couldn’t consistently move the ball, couldn’t defend a hail mary, and had multiple other setbacks.
Heading into the game, the Bears had a 40% chance of making the playoffs, which would have certainly increased with a win, giving the team a bit of room for error as well. Now, the missed opportunities in the Colts and Commanders games will stand out as painful reminders for fans, players, and coaches alike as the season progresses. Sure, it still is early in the season. But it is looking more and more like the Bears will be fighting for a wild card spot.
At times I want to not be a Bears fan! It’s not because of the O-Line. It’s not because of losing games because of brain cramps. It’s not even because of inexplicably inept coaching (you fumble at the goal line because WHO did you hand the ball off to???). It’s because we have to gag through another year of utterly inept ownership!!! With the same regime, the Bears are destined to go from the next “…now we have the right head coach…the right team president…the right OC, the right publicist”, and we wait another 2, 3, 4 years until they… Read more »
So TWTY……. ARE YOU REALLY PUTTING THE AIR MAILED PASSES TO WIDE OPEN RECEIVERS IN THE FIRST HALF ON FLUS?
Did Flus make Caleb throw it into the 10th row in that screen pass to Allen on the first series (that had a ton of open field in front of him)? How about the wide open DJ Moore throw on 3rd down during the first series that would have been a big gainer too? My gosh!!!
Nah if Flus gets over .500 (9 wins) he won’t be gone. This will be a 2 game improvement playing in the toughest division in the NFL by a wide margin with a Rookie QB. Poles will shore up the O Line and D Line in the offseason and with his early draft picks, and show Flus to play out his last year of his contract giving him the opportunity to finally become a contender. This is risky however because that puts Flus in the lame duck category next season. Honestly if we do fire Flus after this year I’m… Read more »
Fighting for a wild card spot? C’mon Dave. The NFC North will annihilate them. If you thought Houston was rough wait for Detroit. It’s not happening this season. Start planning how to spend the next top 10 draft pick and what to do with Flus, Waldron and Morgan.
I don’t think it was “blind hyenas” as much as it was giving Flus a chance with more weapons. Similar to what Poles did with Fields (and look at him now in PIT). It’s easy to say something sucks and when it happens, you can be all “I told you so”. I mean, that’s the easy way out. I never thought Flus was a good HC. I think if the Bears even get over .500, he’ll be gone.
