VIDEO: Matt Eberflus Post-Game Speech Was Glorious

-

Matt Eberflus had plenty of criticism coming his way after three straight frustrating losses over the past month. Everybody had the Chicago Bears losing in New England on Monday night and getting clobbered. The rookie head coach knew he had to have his guys ready, or it would be a long flight home. Nobody expected what followed. The Bears smacked the Patriots around most of the night, rushing for over 240 yards, forcing four turnovers, and delivering a 33-14 knockout punch.

There is no question that Eberflus was at the heart of it. Every phase contributed to the win. Guys were motivated and well-prepared. They were the aggressors, and New England wasn’t ready for that. Perhaps the best part was the post-game speech Eberflus made in the locker room. He reminded everybody of all the hard work they put in and why they did it. Playing 60 minutes. Physical and mental stamina. Situational football. Hearing the players respond to him with such conviction was great.

Matt Eberflus showed how different he is.

This is not the Club Dub era anymore. The man is all business. Praise the players for their work and then remind them there is more to come. Always keep them focused on the next game. A more business-like approach was needed for this team. It shows in how much more disciplined they are compared to years past—only four penalties the entire game and one turnover off a tipped pass. That goes back to the H.I.T.S principle. Force turnovers and play smart football.

The Bears aren’t yet talented enough to compete with the big boys in the NFL. Yet their victory in New England was a sign they may have finally solved one of the critical puzzles to success. They have a head coach who knows what he’s doing. Matt Eberflus may not be the flashing offensive genius any team wants. It doesn’t matter. He knows how to make players better. That was never clearer than on a wet night in Foxborough.

I think the Bears Coaching staff actually has been reading a lot of the comments on here. 1) Heavy package at the goal line. 2 tight ends & fullback leading the play along with leaving an extra blocker in on most plays with Fields being the additional runner verses the blocking back. 2) Run option plays with Fields bringing the run which further freezes the defense. 3) Mustifer playing as a “help a brother out” verses standing around while guards are getting killed (outplayed one on one) 4) Pettis as a gadget speedster, verses only counting on him to catch,… Read more »

What a difference between Eberflus and Nagy. Eberflus created changes that show his willingness to adapt. Players didn’t make mistakes.

Saw an excuse being made for Jackson! BS! He avoids contact and it is the 2nd time he’s been guilty of it. He pulled up instead of delivering a blow that would have both punished the receiver (legally) and saved (at least temporarily) a TD!

Flus may have decided to call the game around the strengths of the team. Did he learn? Or, did he just catch lightning in the bottle on one night?
