VIDEO: Justin Fields Casually Cracks Home Run At Wrigley Field

-

Justin Fields might be a quarterback by trade, but it’s easy to forget he’s a freak athlete in general. Before football became his primary vocation, he was a big baseball player in high school. Many MLB teams were watching him as a top prospect coming out of Georgia. Instead, he focused on football, but the love of the diamond never faded. Fields has attended multiple Cubs and White Sox games already.

He got a special treat on Thursday when he and other members of the Chicago Bears were allowed to take batting practice. Khalil Herbert captured the occasion on video via his Instagram. Sure enough, Fields didn’t shrink in the moment. With everybody watching, he smacked a bomb over the left field wall for a home run. People often forget that it isn’t easy to do and takes considerable strength. The quarterback made it look effortless.

Justin Fields may have a fallback career option.

If this quarterback thing doesn’t work out in Chicago, he might be able to sell the Cubs on giving him a minor league deal. Jokes aside, it’s nice to see the 23-year-old working to organize activities like this. He also took teammates to a Chicago Blackhawks game not too long ago. The goal is obvious. Team unity and chemistry are vital to success, and he wants everybody on the same page, working and playing hard for each other.

Subscribe to the BFR Youtube channel and ride shotgun with Dave and Ficky as they break down Bears football like nobody else.

Sometimes that comes at his expense in terms of jokes. Other times he can foster fun little competitions like who does the best at hitting baseballs. Little things like this can have far-reaching effects if handled correctly. While his production on the field remains to be determined, nobody is disputing one fact. Justin Fields is the leader of this team. Everybody is prepared to follow him. That is the critical first step in building a foundation.
