Justin Fields needed to ensure he ended the preseason on a high note. His first two outings against Kansas City and Seattle were a mixed bag. There were some big plays but also some mistakes. Going against the Cleveland Browns offered another chance to build some momentum for the regular season. It didn’t start well. The Chicago Bears offense had two bad runs, and then Fields took a shot on 3rd down, resulting in a punt.
So when the offense came out for a second series, there was a greater sense of urgency. After a six-yard run to start things off, Fields hit two passes for 11 yards. Then he scrambled for nine more. A Browns defender hit him late on a slide at the end of it. That resulted in a 15-yard penalty. Fields took over from there. He fired passes of 14 yards, eight yards, and finally, this 22-yard strike to Ryan Griffin for a touchdown.
Justin Fields is so dangerous when he’s protected.
That play was further proof. The blocking was excellent from the offensive line, and he showcased that downfield accuracy again to tight end Ryan Griffin. Kudos must also be given to offensive coordinator Luke Getsy. He called an excellent drive, getting guys open repeatedly. It is clear Fields is comfortable in this new system. His improvement has been noticeable with each passing week. One can only feel excitement at how much better they can be together with more time.
Justin Fields wasn’t done either. A few minutes later, he struck again, finding Dante Pettis for his second touchdown of the evening.

This is the kind of performance fans were waiting for. They wanted to see if the young quarterback could build positive momentum going into next month. Sure, he did it against a Browns defense without several starters, but the execution was still strong. Fields will have his down moments in 2022. Still, it feels like he might be better than people think.
This team could be a case of “the sum being greater than the parts”
This offense will look so much better than last year if the O-Line can continue to keep Justin upright and give him time. Can’t wait to see what acquisitions they make after the 53 man cuts.
We will win at minimum 7 games this year
So did Pettis do enough to make the team? I think he looked solid in the games.
right on looking good , no stupid penalties , good blocking, looks like this team is being coached
