Tyson Bagent captured the attention of Bears fans during the Bears’ first preseason game back in August. His attention to detail, taking what the defense gives him, made keeping him on the roster imperative. His long pass on 4th down against the Tennesse Titans was one of his best moments in August.
He followed up his performance against the Titans with a brilliant 97-yard drive for a touchdown, in their games at Indianapolis. He threw 9 completions in 10 attempts for 76 yards before running in for a TD from the 2-yard line. The drive took over nine minutes.
His performance in camp and during preseason earned him a spot on the active roster. Just a few weeks into the season, he was elevated to 2nd string ahead of Nathan Peterman. Bagent was one play away from entering a regular season game in the NFL.
That one play occurred last Sunday when Justin Fields was sacked in the third quarter. Fields suffered a dislocated thumb on his throwing hand. Tyson Bagent’s life-long dream was about to come true.

This week, Bagent is preparing to make his first start as a quarterback in the NFL. During his conversation with the media after Wednesday’s practice, Tyson came across as mature, confident, and prepared. He has communicated with the coaching staff, imploring them to prepare a game plan for Sunday’s game without simplifying the call sheet.
For as long as most fans can remember, one of the favorite players on the Bears roster has always been the backup QB. If Bagent plays well, the fans will give him his first of what he hopes to be many standing ovations in his NFL career.
Also, am I the only one who was surprised by Bagents mobility?? He moves well.
