Tyrique Stevenson Has Immediately Issued A Public Apology

-

It appears Tyrique Stevenson knew exactly how much he messed up on final play of the loss to Washington. For those who somehow haven’t seen it yet, the Chicago Bears cornerback was seen yapping at fans on the sideline as the Commanders snapped the ball. As a result, he was caught out of position, losing the man he was supposed to cover. That man got free in the back of the end zone, and then Stevenson added insult to injury by accidentally tipping the ball right to him. It was a monumental blunder that undeniably cost his team the win.

By the look of things, he knew it as soon as it happened. Stevenson chose not to speak to the media after the game. Some felt he was dodging responsibility. However, the cornerback quickly issued a public apology for the mistake on Twitter.

Tyrique Stevenson was accountable, at least.

He easily could’ve buried his head in the sand and tried to move on to next week. Instead, he stepped up and admitted his fault in the fiasco. It wasn’t just the Hail Mary play. Tyrique Stevenson struggled the entire game, allowing big plays and getting too distracted in a war of words with Washington receiver Terry McLaurin. It was evident he wasn’t focused all day. That final play, acting as if the game was over while the play was still going on, is the kind of immaturity you expect from high schoolers. Certainly not NFL veterans. One can imagine Stevenson’s nightmare isn’t over yet. Matt Eberflus and the coaches are almost guaranteed to grill him on that play all week. They might even temporarily bench as a message. If nothing else, it at least appears he isn’t ignorant of his mistakes.

What a fool article. TS’ agent prolly texted him the “apology” language and told him to cut and paste it into a tweet ASAP to try and avoid a suspension without pay. Plus that saved TS from having to google what remorse means.

@Hate30 IQ I blame you for the loss. You and your hyenas got what you deserved! My middle fingers know more about real football than you, TXass, RosterRider, and Little Ricky Retardo put together. When you believe in things you don’t understand, then you suffer.

I would suspend Stevenson. Not allowed to be involved with team activities for at least a week or two and that includes missing the next two games. I would also Fire Eberflus. Clearly, the team has not responded to his running the team. I would also Fire Waldron. Despite doing these things, it still doesn’t change the biggest weakness on this team, which is the offensive line which could not protect Caleb Williams during the game. Clearly, the team needs to go in a different direction with different leaders as the current ones are ineffective. It’s pretty obvious to most… Read more »
