Two Names Are Betting Favorites For Next Chicago Bears Head Coach

-

The Chicago Bears are almost guaranteed to have a new head coach after the season ends in January. Matt Eberflus passed the point of no return in the minds of many weeks ago. He keeps losing close games, almost ruined his young quarterback with another bad coordinator choice, and even his mighty defense is regressing a little more each week. He has no excuses left. The only remaining question is whether he survives to the end of the year or if the Bears break tradition and fire him before.

Questions have shifted to who replaces him once the search begins again. Plenty of intriguing names will be available. Experts have shared their opinions on that subject. So have sports bettors. Recent odds were revealed via Six Point Sports and The 33rd Team. One thing is clear from both. It is currently a tight race between two prominent NFL assistants for the job.

This trend seems pretty clear for the Chicago Bears.

Las Vegas believes they are focused on finding a young, proven offensive specialist they can pair with Caleb Williams for the future. Ben Johnson is 38 years old and runs the #1 scoring offense in the NFL. He’s produced a top-10 unit each of the past three seasons with the Detroit Lions. They are firmly situated as Super Bowl contenders, thanks to his efforts. Joe Brady is the 35-year-old offensive coordinator of the Buffalo Bills. They have the #3 scoring offense, with quarterback Josh Allen looking like a heavy favorite to win MVP.

Perhaps the most interesting part of both lists is that Thomas Brown, the Chicago Bears’ recently promoted offensive coordinator, is ranked third. This reinforces the belief that a serious groundswell exists for the team to promote from within. Either way, the evidence speaks for itself. The Bears will be focused on quarterback specialists.

As long as we stabilize our IOL, I really don’t care, as long as that person improves team execution. The team that makes the least mistakes usually wins. We have a QB that can make plays in the 4th quarter, and he is not INT prone. The moment is not too big for him. We always have to prioritize giving him time to throw, he will find the open receiver.
Saleh is a 3-4 guy. I like him, but I like the 4-3 better. I don’t want to turn the roster upside down.

Well they aren’t going to fire Poles and then give the GM job to his right hand man. He probably wouldn’t take it anyway if they fire the guy that brought him in. There one in the same. They make decisions together. Cunningham is as much to blame as Poles for the roster mistakes. Quit acting like they dont thoroughly discuss every move. Some people must not have watched hard knocks. Most decisions were made as a staff. Imput from coaches and scouts before deciding who to keep and who to cut. Why would they bother having all those scouts… Read more »

If OC Brown’s offense shows consistency for the rest of the season I’d go another direction and give serious consideration to Aaron Glenn. He’d be an HC the defense would play for. Keep Brown at OC. Unless another team makes him HC.

I like that Dr. Steven.
Cunningham hire would not admit total failure by the family as they hired him with Poles. Johnson as HC/Shadow OC like Reed, McVeigh, Shanahan etc. And Brown would be the OC that already has the players respect so it’s some good continuity from this awful Flus mess.
