Another day, another brutal late-game loss for the Chicago Bears. There isn’t much to say. Once again, they had a pivotal win in their hands. All they had to do was connect on a 46-yard field goal. It was blocked. For the 11th time in a row, they lost to the Green Bay Packers. What makes it hurt even more is that the game should’ve belonged to Caleb Williams. The rookie quarterback was outstanding in the 4th quarter. He connected on three big-time throws during that final drive. None bigger than a 4th and 3 back-shoulder dime to Rome Odunze for a pivotal 1st down.
Everything about the play was brilliant. Williams had zero hesitation. He turned and threw the moment he hit his back step. The ball was in a place where only his receiver had a shot. Odunze showed tremendous body control to spin around and make the grab. Fans in the stadium went crazy, but nobody had a more guttural reaction than Tom Brady. You can audibly hear him scream in the booth when the pass connects.
Caleb Williams showed incredible guts during that sequence.
While that throw was the pivotal one of the drive, the one before was almost as crucial. Williams had taken back-to-back sacks to make it 3rd and 19. In times like that, previous Bears quarterbacks always crumbled. The rookie instead avoided pressure, scrambled to his right, and hit Odunze for a huge 16-yard gain. Then the play after the conversion, he found Keenan Allen for another 12 yards by beating a seven-man blitz. He finished the day with over 300 total yards and a 74% completion rate.
Brady’s reaction tells you all you need to know. If Caleb Williams can bring the G.O.A.T to his feet with his play, the Bears may finally have the right guy. Now they have to find somebody as head coach who knows how to win.

Nobody care what you think sally….go eat some fish and chips. Stay in England with the rest of the uppity brits.
@David Why so negative and wrong all the time? As a traitor you picked the Packers 42-7. I commented, “no way.” Go back and read it again.
I just hope Brady does not get into politics. He too would be a tragedy for the States. At least he should never win Massachusetts or Minnesota.
Caleb showed decent improvement against a good team. Just goes to show how coaching, playing to your players strengths, and having a good offensive game plan matters (Thomas Brown). However, head coach is just important if not more so then a franchise quarterback. Until the Bears get that right we’re destined to see in game coaching mistakes and losses continue. Half of the puzzle is complete but do they have the ability to hire a franchise head coach? I suppose we’ll find out. Flus isn’t that guy! He’s a good defensive coordinator posing as a head coach. He plays it… Read more »
CW was much better getting passes out quickly the whole game. Great job by Caleb to overcome the last drive mishaps and put them in position to win. And that throw to Rome on 4th and 3 was special.
Trouble was defense gave up too many big runs to Jacobs and big plays to Watson. The DL is weak.
Bear rebuild 6 or 7 starts soon. The problem starts with Bears fans who fill the the stands year after year, buy the 12 dollar beer, and pay for goofy parking. The family makes almost as much money and with less risk than it would cost them to have a decent team with proper coaches.
All the posts about bad clock management for the next 2 days ignore what is really bad about the Bears
