The Bears enter week 2 undefeated with a 1-0 record after a comeback win against the Titans. This week, they’ll be in the national spotlight as they travel to Houston to face CJ Stroud and the Texans on Sunday Night Football. Here are my three bold predictions for this week 2 matchup.
Bears stop Joe Mixon
Outside of one drive, the Bears pretty much shut down Tony Pollard and the Titans run game. Meanwhile, the Texans rushed for over 200 yards in Week 1 against the Colts, with Joe Mixon accounting for 159 of those yards alone. To succeed, the Bears need to focus on stopping the run, allowing their star-studded secondary to put pressure on Texans QB C.J. Stroud.
Bears offense bounces back
I don’t expect the Bears offense to be perfect, but I do believe they’ll capitalize on some big plays they missed in Week 1. Plus, Caleb Williams is poised for his breakout game on national TV. Sounds like a solid storyline, doesn’t it?

Normally, I include a score prediction along with my three bold predictions, but this time, predicting a Bears win feels bold enough on its own, so I’m making it one of the three. Despite being 6.5-point underdogs, I have a feeling the Bears will keep pace with Houston and pull off a huge, season defining win.

Just coming around to see when the great prognosticator twty finally shows after his last prediction went south…I would take the Bears if they were at home….away is tough
I think Houston wins, but I wouldn’t be shocked if the Bears did. The Houston GM has done a great job also, he just got his QB first. Right now, it’s just how far the defense and special teams can carry the team until Caleb starts finding his rhythm.
@Sam, I agree with you. I still think the interior gets tested and stretched once again. I foresee a lot of twists and stunts to try to pick apart that interior of the Bears’ o-line. It will be interesting to see if they respond this week.
Realistically, to win, the Bears “offense” needs to put up 4 TDs not 4 FGs! But it will be tough against Texan’s DEs Anderson and Hunter on the road. Plus, Houston is loaded on offense while Bears are capable but not proven. If our D can hold them under 24 points, the Bears have a chance. Otherwise, no.
Prediction: Texans 31 Bears 20
Wow, just WOW! Since teams stopped playing their starters in the pre-season several years ago, the first couple of games in the regular season are the shakeout period where players are getting back into game shape.
