The Bears enter week 5 with a 2-2 record after a big win against the Los Angeles Rams. This week, they’ll be in the noon window as they take on the 1-3 Carolina Panthers. Here are my three bold predictions for this matchup.
Caleb Williams scores four total touchdowns.
The debate between Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams has been blown out of proportion. A strong performance from Williams could quiet the chatter. Though we’re only four games into the season, it would be great to see the offense shine against one of the league’s worst teams.
The Bears defense wreaks havoc on Andy Dalton.
Since the Panthers benched former number one overall pick Bryce Young, Andy Dalton has taken over and put on quite a show. Dalton has thrown for 559 yards, 5 touchdowns, and just 1 interception, earning a QB rating of 103.4 in his two starts. He’s been on fire and provided the spark Carolina needed. However, I believe his hot streak will end this week, as the Bears defense, particularly their star-studded secondary, will likely get the better of him.
Two Bears wide receivers each top over 100 yards.
The Panthers are dealing with significant injuries, particularly with both starting linebackers out. This opens the door for two Bears wide receivers to have big time performances, and possibly a big game from tight end Cole Kmet as well.

Score Prediction:
Bears 34 Panthers 21
I agree @barry-mccockiner. Again, I’ll take the victory any day of the week. Even if Kurt Kittner is our QB 😂. We all love the ‘85 Bears and their great defense, but who recalls that our offense led the NFL in scoring? I don’t care if the D or the O scores. Just give us all wins without drama
How many yards of passing output from QB1?
Or are we all finally in agreement that net passing output is a meaningless statistic on its own??
Damn! I had 2 points to make and Doc and Dug beat beat me to both of them.
Also, Fantastic point on the Wentz/Goff debate, Doc. I seem to recall numerous articles even referring to Goff as a BUST after his rookie campaign.
Interesting takes. I agree that the Bears defense may slow Dalton down quite a bit. However, with two starting linebackers out, how will that help the Bears have two WR go for 100 yards each? Sounds like the run game will be stronger for lack of quality at the LB level. If that forces them to put a safety in the box, that could open up double fly routes, I suppose. But the general rule it to attack your opponent’s weaknesses, and if the weakness is at the LB level, then Kmet and Swift should have big games. Four TDs… Read more »
I will always be happy with a victory, but predicting Andy Dalton dropping 21 points on us isn’t exactly wreaking havoc
