The Bears Defense Trash Talked Justin Fields. He Wasn’t Having It

-

Justin Fields comes across as an even-keel personality. He isn’t the type to get too up or too down. It’s part of what makes him so effective at moving past mistakes during games. Don’t be fooled. Hidden beneath that calm exterior is a fierce competitor. Teammates and opponents alike will say Fields isn’t afraid to talk smack if the situation warrants it. Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parson knows this well from when they went against each other in college. As Fields’ confidence grows, so does his mouth.

Make no mistake. He isn’t one of those guys that says things to get under people’s skin. He’s not a Reggie Miller or C.J. Gardner-Johnson. He’s more of a retaliatory talker. If you say something, he’ll say something back. The Chicago Bears defense found that out again during a practice when they openly declared Fields and the offense had yet to score a touchdown on them. He took issue with that statement while mic’d up. Then he decided to call them out for a cheap tactic they employ.

Justin Fields continues to show leadership.

He’s going to defend his guys, even against fellow teammates. An offensive-defensive rivalry is inevitable this time of year. The Bears defense is full of players that aren’t afraid to talk, from Eddie Jackson to Jaquan Brisker, Justin Jones, Jaylon Johnson, and DeMarcus Walker. Fields isn’t about to let them have the only word. While he may not be a chatterbox, he’ll say something back. That is never a bad character trait in a quarterback. In fact, the best ones are often some of the best trash talkers in the business. See Tom Brady and Joe Montana.

It is nice to see the young quarterback coming into his own. The confidence is growing more evident by the day. Justin Fields isn’t going to just let his play do the talking. Where’s the fun in that? Trash talk is a time-honored tradition in professional sports. Fields has played the young guys staying quiet who does what he’s told long enough. It is time for him to start asserting himself more. His mouth needs practice too.

@slip…. lol. Yes, this is the time of year when articles about ‘top 10… turds’ comes out. and “when the grass is watered… it grows”.

The sad part is…. after Mandatory Mini-camp… there is a 40 day stretch…. of NOTHING team related. (doesn’t mean the player are taking ALL that time off though… if you think that you’re not REALLY a NFL fan). it’s ULTRA competitive… so there is REALLY not “time off”… because ‘the other guy’ isn’t taking it off.

but reading wise…. it’s time to hibernate.

Next up: What the QB ate for lunch today.
Tomorrow: What time did the QB take a dump?
Then: QB wears different type of clothing.

This offers no substance in terms of what was said and what was said back. Come back when you have more. This was nothing.
