The Chicago Bears suffered a tough 17-9 loss to the Green Bay Packers in week 18. Despite the late season optimism, this game was viewed as a golden opportunity to replicate the Detroit Lions success in 2022 by preventing the Packers from making the playoffs. Unfortunately, the Bears fell short, and Jordan Love’s outstanding performance left Bears fans disappointed once again.
A key struggle for the Bears was in the trenches, particularly with their offensive line. Throughout the game, Justin Fields faced relentless pressure due to the poor performance of the entire offensive line. Guard Teven Jenkins, in particular, had his worst game of the season, giving up 4 pressures and 2 sacks. After seeing these stats on X (formally Twitter), Jenkins addressed Bears fans with a honest message.
Despite a brutal game, Teven Jenkins had an overall outstanding season. As of week 18, he had only allowed one sack throughout the entire year. Despite acknowledging his worst performance on the 2023 season, Jenkins’ future looks promising as long as he can stay healthy. But it’s refreshing nonetheless to see a player take accountability the way Jenkins did here. Honestly, Jenkins’ tweet showed more accountability than the entire coaching staff did throughout the entire season.

@TGena Haha, yeah, like I said NO present center returns. ZIP, ZILCH, NADA, especially one with Packer cooties. I know he’s pretty good but they’d have to have carefully worded contract. The depth on that line is nonexistent. It’s scary how an organization could let both lines get that way. I’m curious how much cap space they will have once they shave more off the top. Still a lot of work to do

Connor Williams’ PFF overall grades at center in Miami, 2022 and 2023 — 78.2 and 86.5, respectively.
Lucas Patrick, during the same period with the Bears: 55.9 and 50.5.
So, there’s that.

HOF OT Joe Thomas (Browns) played every snap of his NFL career — 10,363 consecutive snaps.
You’ll never see that, again.
Connor Williams has a long history of being erratic from great to being benched. He has played every position on the line though so that’s a plus but I believe this is his second ACL and that scares me. Couple that with Teven Jenkins injury history and it would have to be a contract full of clauses and not very long. I love Jenkins and think they should extend him so there’s no logical way to commit to 2 O-line starters with injury woes. I think they will sign a center though and hope they draft a young one by… Read more »
