Ryan Poles Stuns The NFL In This Latest Mock Draft

-

The NFL Draft is 49 days from now. All eyes are on the Chicago Bears and GM Ryan Poles. The debate still rages: Keep Fields and accumulate as much draft capital to build the Bears into annual contenders, of hope to catch lightning in a bottle with the newest “generational QB” by taking Caleb Williams with the top pick in the draft.

No matter which side of the debate you find yourself in as you read this, remember there are no right or wrong answers. If you are a Chicago fan, you want to see championships sooner rather than later. It is healthy to look at both options.

You can even take a shot at what you want to do. Go to https://www.profootballnetwork.com/mockdraft build your own Bears Mock Draft, and list your picks in the comments.

Can the Bears possibly pass on Williams? It depends on who you ask. When 44-year sportswriter Rich King posted his last article before retiring, he suggested Poles would keep Fields and build the team. Recently the Bears staff from CHGO interviewed former Bears QB Jim Miller at the Scouting Combine, and Miller also suggested Poles should build around Fields. There has never been a bigger debate leading up to this year’s draft regarding which direction Poles takes.

Here is the latest mock draft courtesy of Pro Football Network:

Poles pulls off multiple trades with Washington, Arizona, Miami and Atlanta. The results are mind-blowing! Poles ends up with TEN picks in 2024. Eight of those picks land in the top 100. The mock draft trades also land future draft capital in 2025. Washington’s 1st round, Miami’s 2nd and 3rd, and the 3rd round selection from Atlanta.

With their first round picks the Bears bolster the WR group with both Marvin Harrison Jr. and Malik Nabers. They address the center with one of the top centers in the draft when they select Zach Frazier. Continuing to address key needs, Poles gets the top Safety in 24, selecting Tyler Nubin from Minnesota. Edge Darius Robinson and DT Braden Fiske, who turned heads last weekend at the combine help to fortify an already potent defensive line.

Runningback Blake Corum, who stunned scouts during his bench press (he had as many reps and OT Joe Alt) falls to the Bears at pick 75.

Tulane quarterback, Michael Pratt, is a project who can sit behind Fields for a year or two. If Fields grows into the QB the Bears hoped they drafted in 2021, Pratt could develop into a solid backup, or get traded down the line.

Haha, that was awesome (insert Chris Farley meme), I just played GM and would have made Ryan Poles proud. Came away with 9 picks, None later than round 5. Took in order OT Joe Alt, QB Jayden Daniels, WR Keon Coleman, DT T’Vondre Sweat, DE Darius Robinson, DE Adisa Isaac, DT Maason Smith, RB Bucky Irving and TE Jared Wiley. PLUS 2 EXTRA 1st rounders next year, and an extra 3rd, 4th and 5th. If it was only that easy! LOL.

This shouldn’t be a surprise—with only 5 picks in the draft and ~$43m for free agency, the Bears need more rookie contracts via draft picks. Everything is pointing to keeping Fields and trading out of the #1 spot—and this certainly is a viable solution at this point.

With all the proven veteran safeties vying for a new contract, this is a great year for a “prove it” contract with one and save the draft pick for something more pressing—like a stud center?

Wow, I’d love that draft. With DJ Moore, MHJ and Nabers, the Bears WRs would be number 1 in the NFL within a season. I don’t know if I’d draft a safety that high, but Nubin is a fine talent. You grab an outstanding Center, and let him learn behind Ryan Bates. My only question is – can Morgan develop him, or will he have to learn on his own? Maybe the new additions to the coaching staff will help. Pratt is one of my favorite QBs in this draft. He needs a little work to bring him up to… Read more »

@MichaelH, very entertaining LOL. I could imagine a double trade if Poles gets his way but 4 of them? I believe Phil Jackson called this, “mental masturbation”.
