Say this for Ryan Poles. The Chicago Bears GM isn’t known for subtlety. The guy will speak his mind as earnestly, which has proven refreshing for fans after years of Ryan Pace double talk. His comments about Roquan Smith’s trade demand were particularly eye-opening. He came across as honest and up front. The man doesn’t fear answering the hard questions. He is willing to stand in there and take the heat. Many GMs wouldn’t be willing to do that.
That same mentality was displayed again during the Bears’ second preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks. Poles appeared on ESPN to talk about the team’s status with the regular season approaching. Credit the Barroom Network for picking up what he said. The GM didn’t sound like somebody content with where his roster is at. Quite the opposite, it seems. There were strong hints the Bears could be active once final cuts happen over a week from now.

Ryan Poles has plenty of positions he can tweak.
It is evident through two preseason games the Bears still have problems on the offensive line. Justin Fields is under too much pressure. Center has seen multiple injuries, while tackle depth is a serious question mark. There have also been a slew of health issues at linebacker. There is also the reality they need more firepower at wide receiver. There is no shortage of areas they could address. It comes down to who may or may not be available when the cuts happen.

Seeing Ryan Poles have this mindset is encouraging. He’s making it clear there will be no resting on laurels. Not under his watch. If the roster isn’t good enough in his eyes, he isn’t afraid to make tweaks. Keep making adjustments until something clicks. Never stop trying to get better. The Bears weren’t typically active during waivers under Pace. It could be an interesting change in direction depending on what Poles does.
Personal opinion I think this guy is bullshit but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt to see what happens and if we lose any game next year he should be out on his a**. If you want to rebuild some vets have to b there to show the rookies how the program is ran. He cut the whole vet defense, leaving us with humiliating defeat after humiliating defeat. Offense play there hearts out and the defense loses the game.SMH
I have no doubt in my mind that this team of misfits and young guys could go on to be this years bengals
You need to ask Lamar ‘Soup” Campbell about candor, double-talk and respect. — unless Roquan’s available.
How things are done……
That takes some serious f’n balls to walk away from a player that’s asking for the sky ‘n moon and deny those demands. I now believe Poles is absolutely the right person in place to lead this TEAM FOR THE FUTURE! I honestly believe he cares about OUR CHICAGO BEARS! Sometines GM’s wanna make headlines. Poles I believe “cares” about OUR TEAM. W/O us there is NO team. We are the best/most dedicated fans in the league and we care care h
