Ryan Poles Is Already Sniffing Around Vital Draft Position

-

It isn’t difficult to surmise where the Chicago Bears will focus their attention in the upcoming 2025 NFL draft. GM Ryan Poles has to fortify the trenches with as much talent as possible. Fans will want him to focus on the offensive line for obvious reasons. You can’t allow your quarterback to get sacked 67 times and not do something about it. However, they also seriously need more help with their pass rush. It wasn’t nearly effective enough this season, allowing better opposing quarterbacks to have strong days.

Poles has four picks in the first three rounds. It’s not crazy to think one of them will go for a pass rusher. Sure enough, details popped up from draft insider Ryan Fowler that the team is paying close attention to Colorado standout B.J. Green at the Hula Bowl. He finished with 7.5 sacks this past season, which was the best of his college career. His reputation is one of energy, effort, leadership, and excellent closing speed.

Ryan Poles being interested in Green is no surprise.

He always covets good athletes with glittering reputations for work ethic and high motors. Being developed by an actual NFL player like Deion Sanders only enhances his profile. The primary concern with Green is his size. At 6’0, he is short for a defensive lineman. While that isn’t a dealbreaker, his length measurements will be crucial to determining where he plays in the pros. He has the body thickness to play defensive end, especially in the lower half. If Matt Eberflus were still the head coach, there would be questions about his size. However, with a new staff coming in, it appears Ryan Poles is making sure to identify players of all types so he’s prepared for the next head coach. There is no question Green can contribute in the right system.

In the 2nd or 3rd Round, I like Jihaad Campbell, LB Alabama.

I do not trust Poles to make the draft selections until the 5th round. Somebody better do more than assist him in the Draft.

The Bears job is to figure out who will be the most effective pro. Carter looks really solid, and had good college production with 68 tackles, 12 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles last year. He’s a top rated edge rusher, but will likely be off the board by 10 – if he’s not, it’s a pretty easy choice for the Bears. I also like James Pearce Jr. from Tennessee. He’s almost as fast as Carter (4.49 40 reported vs. Carter’s 4.48), and only had 38 tackles, 7.5 sacks, and 1 forced fumble last year. He’s 6′ 4″ and 245 lbs,… Read more »

DE/LB Abdul Carter, Penn State, is a good, good man. But only 6’3″ 255.
