GM Ryan Poles said running back was an area he felt needed some help for the Chicago Bears. It wasn’t because he doesn’t like David Montgomery or Khalil Herbert, but more due to the position lacking certain dimensions. He felt there wasn’t enough speed and legitimate threat in the passing game. That is why they really missed Tarik Cohen. So Poles finally ended up addressing this issue with Trestan Ebner.
While never a standout runner for Baylor during his college career, he was easily one of the most versatile backfield weapons. He caught 127 passes including 11 touchdowns and also had three kick return touchdowns between 2020 and 2021. The guy is dangerous in the extreme when you get the ball to him in space. There is no shortage of ways Luke Getsy and the coaching will be able to use him.
#Bears select Treston Ebner with the 203rd pick, per source.
