The Chicago Bears need to take care of business on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. It’s a game they have no business losing. Their opponent has one win in 2020 and has one of the worst rosters in the NFL. Nothing summarizes their dysfunction better than the quarterback position where they’ve played hot potato between Gardner Minshew and Mike Glennon for the past two months.
Coming into this week it looked like the Jaguars would continue to ride with Minshew. However, the always restless head coach Doug Marrone seems to have had a change of heart. Either out of a true belief it’ll make a difference or obeying orders to take, the Jaguars will start Glennon on Sunday against the Bears. A true opportunity for revenge.
No, not for him. For Chicago.

People will say this game is Glennon’s chance at revenge. How the Bears so cruelly cut him after just one season with the team. They have that backward. In reality, Chicago should desire revenge. One for him stealing millions of dollars in guaranteed money and two for how he played in his brief stint with the team. A whopping 833 yards, 4 TDs, and 5 INTs in four starts with a 1-3 record.

What exactly did he do that justifies him believing he was wronged by the Bears. It’s not like he was playing okay and they benched him for no reason. The guy was a disaster. He made it easy for the Bears to bench him in favor of Mitch Trubisky. Now they’ll have a chance to have some fun at his expense on Sunday.
Chicago Bears have no reason to fear Glennon
People are already predicting he’ll have a big day if for no other reason than the Bears are generous to former players. The difference is most of those former players are actually good. Glennon is not. He’s started three games for the Jaguars this season. He averaged 200 yards passing with 3 TDs and 3 INTs in those games. All of them losses. What about him should the Bears fear?
Sure there is the danger of a trap game? Playing bad teams right before a big matchup down the road is how that happens. The Chicago Bears know the Green Bay Packers loom on the horizon. It’d be easy to look past Jacksonville. Except this team isn’t in a position to do that. It’s not like they 10-4 or 9-5 and worrying about playoff position. They’re 7-7. They just finished a six-game losing streak a few weeks ago. They’re in no position to start feeling cocky.
Odds are they’ll be ready to play.
Jacksonville has a terrible defense against both the run and pass. David Montgomery should have another strong afternoon. All Mitch Trubisky has to do is not consistently turn the ball over and sustain some nice drives. As for the defense? They haven’t been their dominant selves lately but they have no reason to fear the Jaguars. All they have to do is stop James Robinson (if he plays) on the ground and dare Glennon to beat them.
