The Chicago Bears are once again in a familiar position, searching for their next head coach. This hiring cycle is crucial, as the success of Caleb Williams’ development hinges on finding the right coach. Unfortunately, the Bears have a poor track record when it comes to making the right coaching hire, which adds to the pressure of this decision.

Ryan Poles appears to have one final opportunity to get this hire right, a somewhat surprising decision by the Bears leadership. In light of this, the BFR podcast from Sports Mockery has created a tier list ranking the potential coaching candidates, highlighting the best and worst options. You can watch the full show here for more details, but I’ve put together my own list of head coaching candidates I believe the Bears should consider.
Ranking Bears Head Coaching Candidates
- Ben Johnson – A young, innovative offensive mind who could revitalize the Bears offense.
- Pete Carroll – A seasoned leader with a proven track record of building Super Bowl winning teams.
- Mike Vrabel – A tough, defensive-minded coach who brings a physical, disciplined approach.
- Mike McCarthy – An experienced coach with a Super Bowl pedigree and proven leader.
- Joe Brady – An offensive guru known for developing quarterbacks and dynamic passing games.
- Todd Monken – A creative offensive coordinator who has successfully modernized multiple offenses.
- Kliff Kingsbury – An offensive mind with a knack for high-scoring, fast-paced systems.
- Aaron Glenn – A rising defensive mastermind who could bring energy and innovation to the locker room.
- Brian Flores – A disciplined, defensive coach with a knack for turning around struggling teams.

Does Caleb need or desire a hard-nosed father-figure like Vrabel or Monken? Probably not, but perhaps. Does the rest of the team need it? Probably, yes.
So who do you want to please: Caleb with Johnson or Carroll, or the team with Vrabel or Monken? Which one will get you more wins: Caleb or team?
Our only chance is for Caleb William’s father to bust in the meeting, slap the DEI bitch out of her chair, then put a gun to McCaskeys head and hold it there until Ben Johnson is hired.
I’m Caleb Williams and I approve this message.
If Caleb is still the center of the Bears’ universe, then Johnson is the HC. If not him, then Carroll who has experience with young QBs and is still young at heart. Vrabel and Monken are just the opposite style.
This is not far off my top 5 as well. Irashamn, same as you, the idea of Carroll has certainly grown on me. For me it’s 1) Ben 2) Vrabel 3) Carroll. But I wouldn’t be upset about any of the 3. Nor would I be too upset about Monken or Brady. For many ppl on here no coach on earth is good enough. Many would find a way to snub their nose at Andy Reid lol. It’s just the way of the Chicago land.
1) Vrabel…..the league has spoken Hes the best candidate out there and its not even close.
2) Carroll….this one grew on me
3) Johnson
