The Chicago Bears had a strong off-season, leading some to consider them a team on the rise, though expectations might be a bit too high. In a recent article from PFF by Jim Wyman and Dalton Wasserman, they ranked all 32 NFL teams for the 2024 season, considering each team’s strengths, and weaknesses. The Bears were ranked No. 20 on PFF’s list. Here’s what they had to say about the Bears.
“On one hand, the Bears are a team with an ascending defense and a loaded receiving corps. On the other, they are a team with a rookie gunslinger, a new offensive coordinator and bottom-five trench units on both sides of the ball. Expectations are high, but patience will likely be needed as the Bears try to build a sustainable future.”
Is this ranking fair for the Bears?
The Bears being ranked at number 20 initially surprised me. While I didn’t expect them to be in the top 10, I thought they would at least fall in the 15-16 range. This is a team that won 7 games last year and boasts a very talented roster. Additionally, they have the third easiest schedule in the NFL, which bodes well for the 2024 season. For some context, here are the rankings for the other NFC North teams:
6. Lions
13. Packers

21. Vikings
The division is undoubtedly competitive. Do you think the Bears roster ranking by PFF is fair? Let me know in the comments.
Well interestingly enough the lions were ranked 6th. The Bears were 2 terrible JF 4th Qtr turnovers away from beating them twice. The second game win was completely controlled by the Bears. They knew they could beat them and didn’t collapse second time around. Also ANY type of competent QB play and both packer games would have been wins. JF choked both of those games away by being unable to THROW THE DAMN BALL ALREADY!….theres no excuse for not winning the north, THIS year.
Mahomes is the big dog. Our roster is set up to beat the big dog. Campbell got rid of Swift because he is not a punch people in the mouth type of player. Dan Campbell wants to punch us in the mouth. SF secondary and D is soft, especially with Greenlaw and his torn Achilles. Houston is the other team we have to watch out for, but CJ is going to take some adjustment lumps. Pittsburgh just overhauled their OL, but they don’t have a QB. These other teams haven’t won anything either, but watch out for Baker.
Philly was ranked #2 last year, #3 this year, IIRC. So there’s that…
@Booger McFarland I mean, if they end 2024 as 20 out of 32 in the league, are you going to be happy about it?
@barry_mccockiner going off the deep end again. 🤦🏽♂️
