Unless there are any last-minute injuries as the Bears prepare for their season opener, the roster tweaking is apparently done. Coach Matt Eberflus and his coordinators are busy implementing the game plan for their first game vs. long-time rival Green Bay.
To recap what has been a busy week, the Bears set their 53-man roster and established their 17-man practice squad. After the initial roster was set, they made a few moves. Ofensive linemen Teven Jenkins and Doug Kramer were placed on injured reserve. Both players will miss a minimum of four games.
Heading into “Packer Week” here is the current roster:

The Bears host the Green Bay Packers September 10th. Game Time is scheduled for 3:25 and will be televised on Fox. This will be the 205th game against their long-time rivals. Green Bay has dominated the series since the early 90’s and lead the series 104-94-6.
Prediction
The Bears have an advantage going into the game. Their defense is not the same as last year. On offense, we finally get to see the “new” Justin Fields. Players and coaches have raved about Fields’ play camp, but we didn’t see much in the preseason games. Chase Claypool should be 100%. The OL must be able to give Fields enough time vs a strong defense.
Jordan Love has a strong running game to lean on as he takes over as QB1 for Green Bay. The Packers have enjoyed Hall of Fame quarterbacks for 30 years, but only have 2 championships during that time.
If it is the Bears time to start a new page in this rivalry, they need to make a statement.
Bears 31 Packers 17
I honestly have a bad feeling about this game….hope I’m wrong
I want for the Bears to beat the Packers, like any true Bears fan, but let’s pump the brakes on this a bit. I mean, if they lose week 1, and lose week 17, and win the rest, that’s a 15-2 season that would be considered a huge success, and the Bears would almost certainly be the #1 seed in the playoffs. Yes, it’s Green Bay, but a win counts a 1 win, and a loss counts as 1 loss, period.
(P.S. – I don’t think they are going 15-2 this year. Just an example.)
This week needs to be treated as our Super Bowl. We need to go out and rub GB’s nose in it. It’s time to make a statement that the Bears are back.
A win week 1 and no matter what else happens the rest of the year ill still be happy.
I mean, historically we are very good under Eberflus to start the season. He always starts 1-0..let’s keep the trend alive 😉
