When examining something in the NFL, it’s common for fans to get lost in the little details. That is what makes football so fun. It’s like piecing together a jigsaw puzzle. Every piece needs to fit properly. When they do, it creates a beautiful picture. That is how it goes when teams try to construct an offense or defense. The Chicago Bears list many key traits they search for in their players. They want size, strength, and violence. Players that hustle and show intensity are most welcome. However, it’s often overlooked how they’ve prioritized one thing above all else.
Speed.
That is especially true on the offensive side. While Miami seems to have cornered the market in the AFC on number of ridiculous burners, the Bears have a case for holding the title in the NFC. Look at the array of zoomers they have across the board at every position.

It’s hard enough for defenses to contain one or two guys with good speed. It becomes almost impossible when you start throwing five or six at them on every single play.

The Chicago Bears will make you pay if the blocking holds up.
That is the one key nobody is sure about. Chicago’s offensive line was a mixed bag last season. Their run blocking was well above average, paving the way to the NFL’s #1 rushing attack. Along that same span, they allowed 58 sacks. Pass protection was a huge issue. It is why GM Ryan Poles spend considerable resources to upgrade it with new arrivals like Nate Davis and Darnell Wright. If this reshuffled group shows improvement, the Bears offense’s true potential will immediately become evident.
Stopping speed can be done for a short period of time. The hardest part is doing so for 60 minutes. It only takes one mistake for a big play to happen. Head coach Matt Eberflus will make matters worse by having everybody on his roster well-conditioned to run for long periods of time. Everybody will be in shape. Having guys with that speed running all out over four quarters is bound to result in explosive plays. That is why the Chicago Bears constructed it this way.
I did not know that Robert Tonyan was that fast, for a big TE that impressed me as well.

I differ that JF is only 4.4 and in the video it shows a DB had a bead on JF and JF froze him in his stance and JF blew pass him so fast that he didn’t try to tackle him. There’s clocked speed and football speed. Some guys look like they are going faster than everyone else or they should be. It’s something when you see a list of all that speed together. Super impressive. I’d also like to point out that Fields’ game speed seems way faster than 4.44. When you factor in his strength and how he breaks arm tackles at the LOS, plus the number of times opposing DB’s had the angle on him and watched Fields blow by them, there’s a speed that cannot be fully appreciated by a stopwatch.
