Notable Chicago Bears Name Is Gaining Steam On Trade Market

-

The Chicago Bears haven’t made any moves yet on the trade market. That figures to change following their game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. From there, they will have 48 hours to make a decision on what to do. They could be seller, unloading some names on their roster for a draft pick or two. Or they could become buyers, hoping to find a significant upgrade for a position of weakness. GM Ryan Poles has a track record for the latter over the past two years. However, it seems as if this time will be different.

NFL insider Josina Anderson shared an update on the deadline buzz she’s hearing with only four days remaining. One name she keeps hearing about as things come down to the wire is offensive guard Nate Davis. It appears there is a genuine interest in league circles regarding the former high-priced free agent.

The Chicago Bears are clearly done with Davis.

Not only did they strip him of the starting right guard job he held since last season, but they went so far as to deactivate him entirely. He was a healthy inactive over the past two games. The same thing happened to Chase Claypool right before they traded him as well. People might say there is no way the Chicago Bears will be able to trade Davis. That is not true. Despite what has happened during his time here, he does have stretches of good play dating back to his time in Tennessee. Playoff-contending teams who aren’t sure about their interior offensive line depth might think he’s worth the risk, especially if the Bears are willing to eat most of his 2024 salary. That shouldn’t be an issue. Expect things to happen quickly following Sunday’s action. Poles usually has no problem finding a taker for players he doesn’t need anymore.

Author, your last sentence is incorrect. Poles and the Bears NEED a playable Davis, they just do not WANT an unplayable Davis. Otherwise, everything seems correct or plausible. And you are so much more attractive than the typical sports writers featured on SM, regardless of gender or sexual identity etc., Believe me, I’m an expert and a real insider.

@Wes P —

Poles “likes” to pay off the salary of players he trades.

He started with Khalil Mack and has continued..

That’s how he retains his status as a “perpetual rookie” NFL GM.

One obstacle to trading Davis is his salary. Who will pick that up?

It’s a lost season Mr Poles. Don’t piss your picks away on any more aging, oft-injured linemen with questionable motivation to try and save it. Put the pads on and step up for a game or two on OL. It’s called falling on the sword.

Note to Ryan Poles —

Kevin Warren is awake, and
watching.
