The San Francisco 49ers had the entire country betting on them Sunday afternoon. It isn’t hard to understand why. They’d just gone to the NFC championship last season. They had a top 10 defense and a proven offensive genius for a head coach Kyle Shanahan. The Chicago Bears had gone 6-11 last season and saw over half of their roster replaced in the spring and summer. There were no valid reasons to think a “rebuilding” team could defeat an NFC powerhouse.
So one can imagine their shock when the Bears fired off 19 unanswered points in the second half, led by Justin Fields’ two touchdown passes, to stun San Francisco 19-10. It was a game characterized by three key factors: the weather, penalties, and turnovers. Torrential rain made it difficult for both sides to throw the ball. The Bears committed three penalties for 24 yards. The 49ers had 12 for 99. Lastly, Chicago forced two turnovers while San Francisco had one. That created the conditions necessary to pull off the win.
49ers players made plenty of excuses for their performance. That didn’t seem to satisfy their fans. One man named Nick Newman took to Twitter to vent his frustration. He was so enraged that he couldn’t even remember how to pronounce Matt Eberflus’ name.
IM NOT EVEN DONE. HOW IS OFFENSIVE GENIUS KYLE SHANAHAN GONNA GET OUT-COACHED BY MATT EBERBUF/EVERBLUFF? WHATEVER HIS DAMN NAME IS. pic.twitter.com/FpVviLYQtq

That rant illustrates what the Chicago Bears accomplished.
Nobody but diehard fans expected them to win that game. All common sense said the 49ers would and should cruise. Don’t forget they’d brushed the Bears aside last season 33-22 at Soldier Field. Considering Chicago’s roster had been overhauled since then, it was logical to think the results wouldn’t change much. So when a loss like that happens, there is only confusion mixed with rage.
The great irony is the 49ers did almost the exact same thing to the Green Bay Packers back in January at Lambeau Field. It’s another reminder that the NFL has an often amazing symmetry. The Chicago Bears aren’t going to apologize either way. They made the plays necessary to win. Nick can be angry, but he’ll still have to swallow the loss in the end. Maybe next time, he’ll show them a little more respect.
The Bookmakers made enough on this Game to lose a heck of a lot bets on others … Nice to see competent Coaching, it makes a HUGE difference!!!!
The really sweet thing is that he is a perfect picture (despite the logo) of Bears fans emotional state, all too often over the last three years…or, is that thirty?
THIS GUY NEEDS TO UP HIS PROZAC.
Sound really angry Beardown and calm down you 49er whiner….
Hey Nick Newman…sorry not sorry…Lol. Bear Down!!!
