Many people came out of the Monday night game in Foxborough feeling sorry for Mac Jones. The former 1st round pick had just returned from injury only to get benched before the first half was even over for Bailey Zappe. Anybody that is learning about who Jones really is likely celebrated the moment. Don’t be fooled by the demeanor he puts on for the cameras. Jones is a dirty player, and he proved it again in that game against the Chicago Bears.
Everybody knows the highlight moment. Jones scrambled to his right in the 2nd quarter and took off. He then slides to the ground right as safety Jaquan Brisker is closing in. Rather than keep his feet down like most quarterbacks would, Jones stuck his right leg out, kicking Brisker square in the groin. People weren’t sure if it was intentional. Now there is new evidence to suggest it absolutely was.
Earlier in the game, Jones had another scramble he took up the middle. He slid at the end of that one as well. Replays showed him sticking his right leg out, trying to trip up Brisker.
Nobody should be surprised by this. Jones already had a reputation for dubious tactics. Last year he got waylayed for a sack against Carolina. As defensive end Brian Burns tried to pursue the fumbled football, Jones grabbed his leg from behind and appeared to twist. Burns crumbled to the ground in pain.

A reminder that last season, then #Panthers Haason Reddick called Mac Jones “completely dirty” for the play involving Brian Burns. pic.twitter.com/ks5cdxLJJ9

Mac Jones is quickly putting a target on his own back.
If defenders weren’t aware of his tactics before, they certainly are now. Brisker got the last laugh in the end, snagging the interception that got the QB benched. Chicago had little mercy on him the entire time he was on the field. One can safely assume word will continue to spread about his reputation. Pass rushers may seek to give him a little extra every time they get their hands on him from now on. A little reminder that there are consequences for these actions.
Bears fans can at least be grateful Justin Fields isn’t like there. There is never a sign of him targeting players whenever he slides. If anything, it’s the opposite. Mac Jones doesn’t deserve preferential treatment because he’s a quarterback. Jerks are jerks and should be treated as such. If the officials don’t do anything about these subtle hit attempts, then the rest of the league will do it for them.
i noticed this too but figured i was just imagining it, so it’s validating to see this post and other’s comments! what a dink.
I saw the two slides and thought he was intentionally was trying to hurt Brisker but thought it may have looked that way in the heat of the moment. Watching it now I see how intentionally he is focusing on his right let hitting the defender. He is ia B–ch and NFL needs to look at this more closely. He may not last in NE long the way he is playing and performing.
Easily voted as comment of the year. Awesome
He will absolutely get his. If he ever plays again.
Mac "dirty" Jones. He should be suspended or fined for his tactics
