New Evidence Shows How Locked In Justin Fields Is Right Now

-

Justin Fields had arguably the best game of his young career on Monday night. Facing a talented and well-coached defense in a hostile stadium, the Chicago Bears quarterback accounted for 259 total yards and two touchdowns. The offense scored 33 points and buried the New England Patriots by 19. It was a humiliation for the home team and the latest indicator that Fields is trending in the right direction.

Few understand how dedicated the young quarterback has been to get better. People keep saying he’s a hard worker, but the evidence isn’t always there to back it up. Luckily, ESPN cameras caught a brief snippet during the broadcast. Late in the 3rd quarter, the Bears held a 26-14 lead. One would think Fields would be getting some rest on the bench. Nope. He was on the training table getting stretched. Yet that wasn’t enough. He made sure to have a tablet in his hands too, continuing to study New England’s defense.

Little moments like this define Justin Fields.

Everything is devoted to one goal: becoming the best possible quarterback he can be. Fields could easily get discouraged from how the season began. He wasn’t putting up great numbers, the team was losing, and he took a beating. That didn’t deter him. He kept working hard to get better. The fruits of that labor are finally coming to the forefront. New England didn’t have many answers for him in that game, especially on the ground.

There is still plenty for him to work on. He has a major fumbling issue he still hasn’t fixed. The passing yards and touchdowns are still lower than they should be. Justin Fields isn’t stupid. He knows that. It is why he remains relentless in his approach. There are no excuses. The only way to get better is to work. No moment can be wasted before, during, or after games. That is what it means to be obsessed.

The fact Chicago is getting this level of dedication from their quarterback is a welcome change.

Ghost Tomahawk, you are certainly negative about one of the best athletes in the NFl, and promising rising star – Justin Fields. He’s popular and a proven leader with his teammates. he graded as the most highly tested NFL draftee to ever take the Wonderlic aptitude test. That’s more than 8,000 players, and he’s number one. My suggestion is that you are all wet, and should direct your negativity at the site of a tem you may be more comfortable with. Is Sonny Sixkiller still playing?

Thanks Russ, you totally nailed it. How anyone that knows anything about football could look at this kid for the last 4 years and not be head over heels for him is boggling.

Guy is running for his life on most pass plays. Busting his arse to make a play and his knee hits the football after he’s almost tripped and some Packer fans on here claim he makes too many turnovers. Give it a rest. He’s working hard and learning on the job. The offense changes every week and half the line takes the passing downs off. This is one of the weakest rosters in the league and Fields is still eking out a few wins. How would Fields look with Brady’s roster? Better than Brady right now I’m sure.

Like Trubisky before him, Fields will have good games.

Seem to be overlooking the fact that Fields has 6 fumbles in 2 games. They were recovered but the gods don’t always let that happen. He’s also thrown 2 picks in 2 weeks for a total of 8 potential turnovers.

Come at me with development. This dude is lazy with the ball.

I wonder if the HITS principle is slowing JF1s progression. Every criticism I’ve seen is a result of him not cutting it loose. Results in not processing fast enough and taking unnecessary sacks. If someone was drilling you every hour of every day to do something like “value the ball” wouldn’t you be gun shy? If Justin took less hits and sacks but more completions and interceptions I would be OK with that.
