The Chicago Bears knew the offensive line had to be a focal point going into the 2023 season. GM Ryan Poles immediately recognized that the unit would benefit from some veteran experience. However, he also knew he had to add somebody that could grow with the others on the roster. So the Bears GM targeted right guard Nate Davis, a free agent from the Tennessee Titans. The former 3rd round pick had started 54 games for his former team, helping them make the playoffs three times.
He also seemed like an obvious fit for the Bears’ offense. His nasty disposition and standout athleticism made him ideal for a wide-zone scheme. He certainly has plenty of knowledge when it comes to run blocking, as Derrick Henry can attest. However, Davis himself thinks he has something else to offer his new team. One of the things he prides himself on the most as a professional is his nutrition. For somebody 315 lbs, the guy is in tremendous shape. He revealed to Jeff Joniak on Bears Weekly that he’s already given young linemen on the roster advice on how he approaches his meal plans.
Nate Davis appreciates a common NFL misconception.
While many athletes have the natural talent to play at this level, most don’t understand that being the best takes more than that. It isn’t a coincidence that the best players in this league are often the ones in the best shape. That requires lots of conditioning and proper eating habits. This is something previous generations didn’t know about. Joniak’s story about Otis Wilson back in the 1980s relying on fast food is a perfect example. If he’d had the nutritional knowledge of today back then, he might’ve played more than nine seasons.
Nate Davis seems to appreciate the benefits of a strict diet. It allows him to build a body necessary for the physical demands of his position. It would explain why he’s never once missed time in his career for soft tissue injuries. This also explains why the Bears targeted him in the first place. They were likely made well aware of his work habits and felt it would fit right in with their culture. The fact several young guys are already seeking his advice suggests they were correct.

My goodness, this is a story?Because he eats really well you think this will rub off to other lineman? Like they don’t know this already. I know things are slow now but come on. Next you write a story on how some bear clips his toenails correctly and what a big Impact this will be in preventing toe infections . Sheer idiocy !!!
Please SLIP, don’t encourage any more of those dumb-@ss comments from you-know-who!
Nate Davis, a professionals professional
Different strokes 4 diff folks tho. Meat might be great for one guy while the other guy needs 75% beans. And fudgepack needs lots of eggz with their pancock breakfast!
the fast food got him a superbowl. maybe they should go back to it.
