People have constantly tried to play Mitch Trubisky, Patrick Mahomes, and Deshaun Watson against each other for the past two years. Fans ruthlessly smashing or propping up either quarterback to see who’s better. Such things are inevitable with the NFL. However, no matter how hard they try there is no existence of a rivalry between those three quarterbacks.
Quite the opposite, in fact.
There’s been a strong kinship between the three of them ever since the spring of 2017. Why? A still raw feeling of being disrespected and doubted by a community of “experts” who said none of them had any business going so high in the first round of the draft. All three took those assessments personally as they told the Chicago Tribune.
“So many people said it wasn’t a strong quarterbacks class,” Trubisky said.
Added Watson: “We all remember that. Patrick has said it. Mitch said it. I’ve said it. And we all put that in the back of our heads, went to work and started grinding. … The whole time leading up to that draft, no one thought we would be where we’re at now. Especially after Year 2.”
Now Mitch Trubisky, Mahomes, and Watson are planning a little troll job
In the end, Trubisky went #2 overall, Mahomes went 10th, and Watson 11th. All three have since taken their teams to the playoffs and have made their first Pro Bowls in 2018. Trubisky had the best overall season for a QB in Bears history. Mahomes threw 50 touchdown passes. Watson overcame a torn ACL and a 0-3 start to win 11 games. It’s really an incredible story.

It is a situation where they could easily chirp to the media about so many people being wrong about them. They aren’t the types to do that. However, they aren’t going to let it go without at least one little bit of trolling. That’s why they agreed to pose together at some point for a photo with the three of them down in Orlando at the Pro Bowl.
Not only is it validation for how good they believe they are, but also a promise to the rest of the NFL that they don’t plan on going anywhere, no matter how much others may want it.
