If you haven’t heard, the Chicago Bears have been flirting with the idea of moving from Chicago to Arlington Heights for quite some time now. Mayor Lori Lightfoot has been against this from the very beginning and rightfully so.
The Bears are a huge attraction and it would be a devastating loss if they were to leave the city. However, the team is in need of a bigger place to call home. The Bears currently have the second smallest stadium in the NFL with a maximum capacity of 65,000 seats. If the Bears ever want to host a Super Bowl, Final Four etc. they can’t do it with their current setup. They need their own Jerry’s world. Arlington Heights would provide them with a great opportunity in accomplishing all of those goals.
The City Wants The Bears To Stay In Chicago
No one wants to go down as the Mayor who lost the Chicago Bears. So as I mentioned earlier, Lightfoot has been against this move from the get-go. At first, she said it was simply a negotiating tactic the Bears were using. But then it picked up even more steam as more moves were made by the team as they investigated the land in Arlington Heights. Fast forward all the way to this week, and it looks like the city of Chicago is now trying to play catch up as they
proposed adding a dome to Soldier Field. This new addition wouldn’t come cheap as it would cost the city around $450M to over $1B. Obviously, this received, even more, push back as many see football as a sport meant to be played in the conditions. Bear weather. However, this does seem like a great idea especially if it is a retractable dome as it’d allow for other sporting events, concerts, etc. to take place no matter the weather. But does throwing a cover on Soldier Field necessarily mean more seats? Would that be enough for the team to host a Super Bowl? Not even close. As talks heat up and the reality that the Bears might actually be on the move, you’d think the Mayor would do everything to keep the relationship between the city and the team in good standing, right?
Think again.
Mayor Lightfoot Trolls The Hell Out Of Justin Fields
Mayor Lightfoot sent this tweet that at first glance looks harmless.
If you take a look at the bottom right photo you will see an image all the way in the back that depicts Justin Fields getting sacked from the Cleveland Browns games last season.
It was easily the worst game of the year for the Bears where we saw Fields get sacked a total of 9 times. Not to mention it was also his first career NFL Start. An absolute masterclass of a troll job but at what cost? Did Lightfoot do this on purpose? Was it an intern? Is the intern a Packers fan? No idea. But it doesn’t really matter. This is just a bad look all around. So many other photos you could have used to display and show off your plans for the city. This all but confirms the Bears move to Arlington Heights.
It’s like Lightfoot lives in this perfect little world in her own big head. Get a grip, she thought the Bears were bullshitting and like Napoleon she laid back while she was busy pushing her Casino through the cracks to fill her budget. Only to inevitably lose again. She’s loosing to gun violence and she will be loosing the next race as well. I can’t wait to visit the Bears New Stadium. It’s going to be epic..
Screw this butch mayor!!!. Or maybe that’s what she needs! By a man. Lol
Can't see beetlejuice
Whoever wrote this article doesn't know what there talking about. The bears do have the smallest stadium in the NFL. There capacity is at 61,500 not 65,000.
Lightfoot has never had any class so why should we all of a sudden expect her to be classy? She'll be gone anyhow. Chicago needs new energy. She's good as gone anyhow.
