Brandon Marshall just has that god-given ability to piss people off. It’s been the case throughout his entire career. Despite being a six-time Pro Bowler, he’s played for four different teams and is about to do so for a fifth. How does that happen? By being an unstable malcontent who says all the right things on camera but repeatedly finds ways to alienate his teammates in the locker room. Now he’s finally drawn gotten Matt Forte angry.
That is an accomplishment that deserves a round of applause. Forte is one of the most laid back players in the NFL. He doesn’t raise his voice and always comes across as a cool customer. So for him to fire back at Marshall publicly is a considerable shock. How did it happen? It started a few months back.
Marshall had jumped ship to join the NFC rival New York Giants. When asked why he chose to leave, he couldn’t help but take a shot at the Jets.
“I just knew I couldn’t be in that environment. I think everyone knows the type of personality I am at this point in my career. I wouldn’t have made it through an entire season knowing that we didn’t have a chance. That’s all you want as a player. You just want a chance.”
That was when Matt Forte angry side came out
Forte apparently took great exception to that statement. He basically called Marshall out for having zero knowledge of the team since he chose to leave. Also, through creative word play seemed to call him selfish. It was rather refreshing to hear.

“It doesn’t matter. He’s not here. He hasn’t been here the whole offseason. So he doesn’t know what chance we have or anyone has. That’s Brandon speaking on Brandon.”
Ouch. Forte may not speak out often but when he does it comes with some bite. After all it was Marshall who had a hand in luring Forte to the Jets in the first place. Now the receiver jumps ship to another team, leaving the veteran running back to go down with the ship. That is what the more crude fans would call a “dick move.”
It’s easy to understand why the normally even-keel Forte would get riled up over such a comment. It’s also easy to see why Marshall won’t have many friends when his Hall of Fame candidacy comes up.
