Madden 23 will be released here in just a few weeks. That means EA will slowly reveal new ratings for every NFL player heading into next season. Year after year, the Bears find themselves extremely underrated. It looks like the 2023 season will be no different as the Bears no doubt have the worst receiving core according to this years Madden overall ratings.
Bears Wide Receivers Fail To Crack The 80 Overall Mark
Yeah, you read that right. Not a single Bears receiver is rated higher than 79 overall. Here are the ratings for all current receivers on the roster heading into training camp.
Darnell Mooney – 79 Overall
Subscribe to the BFR Youtube channel and ride shotgun with Dave and Ficky as they break down Bears football like nobody else.
Before we jump into the rest, this is flat-out disrespectful on EA’s part. Mooney finished last season with 1,055 yards (19th in the NFL) and 81 total receptions (tied for 20th). He did all that in a Matt Nagy lead offense and a revolving door at the quarterback position. The fact he didn’t get an overall over 80 is wild to me. A rating of 84+ would have sufficed for me. I wouldn’t even be upset if he was around 82-83. Perhaps then EA was simply having Mooney prove it again for consistency’s sake before they bumped him up a few. I’d understand that reasoning. But a 79? Would love to see how they came to that conclusion.
darnell mooney will have a 79 overall in madden 23.
that is so disrespectful, smh.

But let’s move on to the rest of the receivers on the team.
Byron Pringle: 75 Overall
Dante Pettis: 74 Overall
N’Keal Harry: 72 Overall
Tajae Sharpe: 70 Overall
David Moore: 69 Overall (nice)
Velus Jones Jr.: 69 Overall (nice, again)
Equanimeous St. Brown: 68 Overall
Dazz Newsome: 67 Overall
Nsimba Webster: 67 Overall
Isaiah Coulter: 66 Overall
There’s not a lot I can really be upset about regarding the rest of these ratings. However, I think Pringle might be a little low as well. Velus is a rookie so 69 seems about right. I expect both of those two and of course Mooney to see a ratings increase after the first few games of the season. For all my Madden players, the next batch of ratings will be as follows:
July 19th: Edge Rushers
Look forward to seeing where Robert Quinn and Trevis Gipson fall. Quinn should at least be a 93+ and my guess for Gipson would be a 79 overall.
July 20th: Running Backs
Monty better be a 90 or we riot.
July 21st: Cornerbacks and D-Line
It will be interesting to see where our rookie class falls at but I don’t expect it to be where I’d like it.
July 22nd: Quarterbacks, 99 Club, and NFL Team Ratings
My guess for Justin Fields overall is 78. Trey Lance better not be higher though. It’s a safe bet the Bears won’t have an 99 overall players like they did a couple years back with Khalil Mack. I expect them to be one of the lower overall teams as well. Just following the trend as EA isn’t very confident in this Bears team.
So i wonder who gives a shit what Madden thinks ? I mean it’s a freaking video game and not the real thing ! Sheesh ! I will GRADE the team and players on the actual field and in actual games !
Madden Ratings???? Slow news day for sure
How bout let them show that they’re not The Swarm-of Suck! This th worst receiver corps ever in Chicago. I would say ever buy I’m sure some expansion team has sucked harder, but there’s not many. Ya’ll are drinking the Kool-aid seal-clapping like trained pigs to the slaughter. You can say this team sucks. That’s a truth you’re not obligated to. Ryan Poles made our bed now we must lay in it for 18 weeks. Look I get what Poles is doing. He’s fielding a defensive team for a defensive coach. He’s put a horrific band of misfits surrounding their… Read more »
They are doing the Bears dirty. I hope they prove those nuts wrong…
No way Montgomery is going to be a 90! Mooney will be 85+ by end of season so W/E EA.
