The Chicago Bears have had one of the craziest weeks in recent memory. They lost a heartbreaker at the one-yard line to the Patriots last Sunday, dropping them to last in the NFC North. Coming into this Sunday they learned that wide receiver Allen Robinson and pass rusher Khalil Mack would both miss the New York Jets game. Then they beat the Jets anyway and find out the Lions and Packers lost, putting them back in second place. This is before all the hubbub regarding Leonard Floyd.
There’s been plenty of talk about the embattled outside linebacker this past week. His ongoing sack drought is a major topic of discussion. Seven games into the season and he’s still without one. It’s a bad look for the former 1st round pick, leading many to think he’s become an outright bust. That may be a bit unfair, but there’s no question he’s struggling.
That hasn’t seemed to scare other teams away from possibly acquiring him. According to Fox Sports insider Jay Glazer, the market for pass rushers is red hot ahead of the October 30 deadline. It would appear Floyd has been among the primary topics of discussion.
Leonard Floyd unlikely to go anywhere despite latest buzz
While it’s always fun to think about trades, the fact of the matter is this one isn’t likely to happen. GM Ryan Pace isn’t in the habit of giving away players he’s drafted. If so he probably would’ve tried to trade Kevin White long ago. Floyd isn’t likely to garner much in return anyway. His recent play, injury history and the fact he has a contract issue looming next year means no team would pay anything significant.

Besides, the Bears pass rush is already in a rather depleted state. Giving him away for a modest draft pick would do nothing to help that problem. Only make it worse. Chicago may just choose to ride things out the rest of the year and then decide on what to do from there. They could trade Floyd then, they could keep him on a contract year to see if he rebounds or they could simply cut him.
