In the Chicago Bears season opener against Green Bay, their second-year cornerback suffered a hand injury early in the game, limiting him to just 27 snaps. Before getting hurt, he had a strong start, breaking up one pass. As the game progressed, it became evident that his injury was more severe, and news confirmed that he would not be returning. Bears head coach Matt Eberflus mentioned during his Monday morning press conference that Gordon is currently consulting with doctors regarding his injury.
It seems Gordon has likely suffered a very serious injury. They are either considering surgery, or surgery is already planned, and they just need to finalize the date and recovery schedule. The time it takes for a broken hand to heal varies for each player and injury. With the right treatment, broken fingers usually get better in a few weeks. But if the hand is broken, it might take several months to fully recover. The Bears secondary was expected to be a strong asset for their defense, but if Gordon is out for an extended period or faces a season-ending injury, things could take a turn for the worse. You can include this as one of the many reasons why the Bears game on Sunday continues to be so disappointing.
