If somebody were to ask who was the best Chicago Bears player of the 2010s, there would be some interesting options. Akiem Hicks and Khalil Mack deserve consideration, even if they weren’t around overly long. Kyle Fuller became an All-Pro at cornerback. Jay Cutler, despite his flaws, had some successful stretches at quarterback. However, it’s hard not to give the honor to Kyle Long. The former guard became a three-time Pro Bowler for the Bears from 2013 through 2019, earning a reputation for being a great player and an infectious personality.
People still wonder what his career would’ve been like if he’d managed to stay healthy. Alas, the NFL can be cruel that way. Still, Long has landed on his feet since retiring. He has plenty of opportunities in the media covering the league. He’s also established some relationships with prominent people. Among them is FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer, who told an incredible story of how that friendship inadvertently almost got Long into serious legal trouble.
Kyle Long must’ve caused nightmares.
Just think about it. Here is a man who is 6’6 and probably between 270-280 lbs. He kicks the door of your house in, making a racket, and you have no idea who he is. You probably think he’s a burglar or some kind of ax murderer. It must’ve been terrifying. One can only imagine how mortified Kyle Long felt when he realized Glazer didn’t live there anymore. The fact nobody ever heard anything about such an incident suggests the couple was convinced that it had merely been a misunderstanding. One can imagine Glazer got an earful for that. It is another reminder that Long is never boring, as well as a terrific person. Having him as a nanny must’ve been awesome. The amount of fun to be had knows no bounds.
Long’s best ability seemed to be leading the OL. When he played, the OL seemed more energized. Was he a real leader or an intimidating bully? IDK. He certainly was overrated with a very popular daddy.
Glazer using the patriotic nationalist-pro-military menu with NFL football helping vets, all part of the simplex FOX formula for greater acceptance and higher ratings. Did he play serious football? Did he fight in Iraq or Afghanistan? He should have or was he another Chickenhawk? Did he fight in Gaza? Ukraine? He wears that flag on his lapel, I see.
Well kind Doctor, we can agree and disagree. Kyle Long was way overrated and Kreutz was a great center and leader of the offense that actually got the Bears to the Super Bowl. Glazer is always uncomfortable to listen to and watch in those mafia suits, he actually has done some real good charitable works for Vets, as well as talking about how he had to overcome depression. Peace out.
Can’t stand the no-talented Glazer: a real Murdoch special for his sports cult. Long was overrated, somewhat. Kreutz was my fave by far.
