If you haven’t already seen Justin Fields press conference from Wednesday, I strongly suggest you watch it now. During the press conference, Fields addressed the speculation that he was receiving too much coaching, and his statements in the presser essentially confirmed this. He shared several significant quotes that hold a great deal of weight.
“I felt like I wasn’t necessarily playing my game. I felt like I was robotic … not playing like myself. My goal this week is to … play football how I know how to play football. That includes thinking less and going out there and playing off instincts.“
Justin’s self assessment is spot-on regarding this verdict. During the first two weeks, he appeared to be a completely different quarterback. He even mentioned that the coaching has played a role in the apparent regression we are seeing on the field.
“You know, could be coaching I think. At the end of the day, they are doing their job when they are giving me what to look at, but at the end of the day, I can’t be thinking about that when the game comes. I prepare myself throughout the week and then when the game comes, it’s time to play free at that point. Thinking less and playing more.”
Justin Has Every Right To Air This Out
Not everyone may agree with this action taken by Fields, but he is facing a critical moment in his career over the next 14 games. There’s a significant amount at stake, both personally and financially. Fields hasn’t received much help from the Bears coaching staff in the first two weeks, and it’s understandable that he’s reached a point where he wants to regain control of his game. He used to be a dynamic player and has confidence in his ability to return to that level. If he genuinely believes in himself, it’s time for him to take action and prove it on the field. This needs to happen vs Kansas City. Justin also made an interesting point regarding the strip sack against the Buccaneers. He said it happened because he was striving for perfection while also adhering to the coaches feedback to stay in the pocket more. He mentioned that his internal clock told him he should have left the pocket earlier but ignored that feeling, and he acknowledged the need to strike a balance between these factors. Overall, it appears that Justin’s motivation and confidence have returned after a period of feeling down since the season began. Could this be a turning point for him? Possibly. Ultimately, the true measure of success is how well he performs on Sunday.

The play calling is horrible but I don’t know how it’s impossible to throw to wide open receivers. Moore was standing in the middle of the field clapping his hands for three seconds.
Defending Poles and Eberflus is defending failure.
Good coaches tailor the system to fit the players not the other way around.
