Over the past few weeks, it became apparent that Chicago Bears safety Jaquan Brisker was one of the more vocal players who had concerns about head coach Matt Eberflus. He obviously couldn’t voice them outright, but it wasn’t hard to read between the lines every time he posted something on social media. Well, it seems the gloves are finally off. Two hours after his final press conference, Eberflus was fired on Black Friday. GM Ryan Poles, team president Kevin Warren, and chairman George McCaskey were all in agreement.
Brisker was quiet for a time, choosing not to say anything shortly after it happened. However, the gloves came off a day later. It started on Twitter (X) with a single line.
For those who missed the joke, Eberflus always mentioned “the grass” when talking about his plans for the team. “It’s all going to be about the grass. What we do on the grass.” Brisker clearly didn’t think much of that philosophy. He wasn’t done, though. The safety posted something else on Instagram. This time, it was a lyric from the song Pelle Coat by Lil Durk. Again, he wasn’t exactly subtle with the intent.
Jaquan Brisker was done covering for Eberflus.
Players had kept silent for a long time despite it being likely they knew the head coach was in over his head long before fans and the media caught on. However, things took an ugly turn in October after that Hail Mary loss to Washington. Not only did Eberflus cost them the game with his defensive calls and situational mismanagement, but he refused to take accountability for it. Once that happened, players completely switched off. They knew he wasn’t the leader they needed to reach the mountaintop. From there the losses and the frustration mounted until the breaking point inevitably came in Detroit. Jaquan Brisker wasn’t there, having landed on IR with concussion problems. Even so, he probably would’ve been right there alongside Jaylon Johnson, screaming at Eberflus after the game.

Yeah that’s not a good look for Brisker. A man still lost his job. Atleast be respectful while we celebrate behind his back lol.
Brisker should quit behaving like a keyboard commando punk. I have been screaming for Eberflus to get the boot as well, but for someone like Brisker who hasn’t helped the Bears in months, he should just shut his pie-hole. For the largest part of this year, Brisker has been a non-factor for the Bears and probably won’t even get an extended contract due to his yearly concussions. There are too many good players that have stepped up and can actually play the position and help the Bears on a regular basis without being drama queens.
For any Bears player on the 53. Say it to his face, if you’re going to talk. Social media is for cowards and publicists. It sometimes takes too long to achieve accountability, but it happens. Unfortunately for players, it is often instantaneous, but for the cowards hiding behind the bs words, on the sidelines, on the podcasts or hiding behind “some people think” or “it’s on the internet,” it eventually gets to them unless people think they’re the best thing since Jesus Christ. Brisker, it’s now on you and your teammates to prove that it was the coaching, not the… Read more »
Brisker: permit me to be your moral compass: (A) stop beating on a dead horse, (B) don’t hit a wheelchaired person in the back of the head, (C) never make fun of somebody less fortunate than you, (D) never trip a person on crutches, (E) don’t throw change in the face of a beggar, (F) don’t leave a blind person stranded in the middle of a street, (G) never wave a car to pass you when there is traffic coming in the same lane, (H) don’t urinate on your mother-in-law, (I) never kick your coach when he down on his… Read more »
@jmscooby I agree with you. Brisker should retire; and Stevenson should have been immediately shipped off after the Washington debacle!
