The presumed number one overall pick, USC Quarterback Caleb Williams, showcased his talents at his USC Pro Day on Wednesday. Here’s a rundown of how it unfolded and why it’s unlikely to impact his draft position.
The Chicago Bears were well represented.
It’s probably not surprising, but the Bears were well represented at Caleb Williams Pro Day. NFL Network reported that they had more staff, coaches, and players from a single team present than any other team at the event.
They’ve been connected to him since late last season, and after the Justin Fields trade last Saturday, it seems very likely that the Bears will select him with the first overall pick next month. GM Ryan Poles and Matt Eberflus arrived a day early, and here they are pictured at Chicago O’Hare International Airport. The Bears met with Caleb Williams prior to his Pro Day and also went for dinner according to NFL Network. Williams also told other teams he would meet with them sometime after his Pro Day. It is interesting that he made time for Chicago.
Caleb Williams measured a bit shorter at his Pro Day.
Caleb Williams Pro Day Measurements: Height: 6′ 7/8 Hand: 9 7/8 Weight: 217

Caleb Williams Combine Measurements: Height: 6’1, 1/8 Hand: 9.75 Weight: 214
It is fair to note, that despite former Bears QB Justin Fields standing at 6’3″, he was still throwing the ball at his own linemen helmets on occasion. However, Williams, who is just 1/4 of an inch shorter, also had slightly larger hands during his Pro Day. I’d take all of this with a grain of salt as most teams go off the NFL Combine measurements.
Bears WR Keenan Allen was in attendance.
Just a week ago, the Bears acquired Keenan Allen from the Los Angeles Chargers for a 2024 4th round pick. Fast forward to today, and he was fitted in new Bears attire and attended Caleb Williams’ Pro Day. He even had the opportunity to greet Caleb and dap him up. Just a great thing to see if you are a Bears fan. Caleb Williams said he is familar with Keenan before his Pro Day as he knew him while he was om the Los Angeles Chargers. However, he did mentioned that he was shocked that he went to the Bears for just a 4th round pick. Williams followed that up saying that Allen just had one of his best seasons as a pro.
GM Ryan Poles and HC Matt Eberflus were spotted chatting it up with Caleb Williams father Carl Williams.
There has been much discussion about Caleb Williams not having an agent. Instead, he is represented by his own team, with his father, Carl Williams, being a prominent figure. Carl has played a crucial role in Caleb’s journey, ensuring he’s in the best position and receives what he deserves – something every father should do. It’s no shocker Poles took the time to meet with Williams dad — as all signs point to him landing in Chicago.
Caleb Williams showed loved to his teammates and the Bears.
After completing his Pro Day, Caleb Williams greeted his teammates and coaches with a mix of hugs and handshakes. Notably, he also exchanged embraces with Bears GM Ryan Poles and HC Matt Eberflus dapping them up and giving a quick side hug.
Caleb Williams had an effortless Pro Day.
There wasn’t anything particularly flashy about Caleb Williams Pro Day, except perhaps for a deep shot from Williams to end it, covering over 55 yards with pinpoint accuracy.
Despite the relaxed atmosphere expected at Pro Days, Williams made it truly look effortless, demonstrating great footwork and precision on short and intermediate throws. While he did miss a few passes, including a deep attempt to Brenden Rice, he remained composed and focused. His interactions with teammates and NFL personnel should likely eased any doubts about his character. It was all smiles in California, except for maybe the Washington Commanders group (half-joking here) as they likely know Williams won’t go past one. The consensus remains that the Bears will likely select Caleb Williams with the number one overall pick. Williams not only excelled in his Pro Day but more importantly showed how personable he was. He is very likable and I believe he will win Chicago over very quickly. And not just the city but of course the Bears locker room.

@Tomwaddledouche The only thing he knows how to say is “I’ll sick your duck for some fentanyl” because there’s nothing else to do in suburban Wisconsin.
@BearCub30 The reason why you saw me wearing a mask on the blue line last week isn’t because I’m afraid of Covid. It’s so that I wouldn’t inhale any lethal marijuana vapor.
@Football at Arlington You and I can find common ground in that you took my nickname for Waddle and made it 100% better.
I don’t know how many of you watched Caleb’s Pro day but IMHO, it was unimpressive. Not that it was bad but I think @nonobaddog stated it very well. For having no defenders and no one in his face, the throws were “okay”. the long ball to end it seemed to make the receiver lose his footing from over stretching which would make it a better catch than a throw. there were other long throws that his receivers had to make adjustments on as well as short throws that weren’t very accurate. Again though, that doesn’t mean a hill of… Read more »
