If You Weren’t Sure DJ Moore Was Crazy, Hard Knocks Just Proved It

-

Hard Knocks unveiled its second episode of the season for the Chicago Bears. It didn’t disappoint. There were plenty of unexpected twists and turns. Fans got to see sides of their favorite players they couldn’t have expected. Nobody was a greater force of entertainment than DJ Moore. The wide receiver may come off as bland and soft-spoken. It’s a lie. The wide receiver is amazing. It started with him casually shaking his head when Bears receivers coach Chris Beatty suggested the possibility the offense might go 3-and-out on their first drive of the preseason game. Then it was his daughter shouting, “Buffalo sucks!” to nearby fans.

However, the best moment came during the first drive of the game. Caleb Williams ran a bootleg off play action with Moore leaking out into the flat. The quarterback got him the ball immediately and he didn’t seem to remember it was a preseason game because he ran hard through multiple defenders for the first down. When he finally hit the turf, what he said had to be the best single line ever.

DJ Moore is exactly the type of player this team needs.

He doesn’t care what time of year it is. Football is football. Training camp, preseason, or regular season. He will go full speed at all times. It comes from a strong personal motivation and a passion for the game. It is no wonder the Bears chose to extend him so quickly. They recognized they had someone special on their hands. Not only is he a great player, but also a great leader. Runs like that send a message to teammates that nothing less than their best should be acceptable on every snap.

It certainly had an impact. The Bears went on to crush Buffalo 33-6 in the game. They were clearly the more motivated team. DJ Moore set the pace with multiple key plays. One can’t help but wonder what in the world Carolina was thinking when they signed off on that trade last year. Giving up the picks was one thing, but surrendering a superstar like him on top of it? At this rate, it will go down as one of the greatest heists in NFL history.

Subscribe to the BFR Youtube channel and ride shotgun with Dave and Ficky as they break down Bears football like nobody else.

Hey jmscooby – “It’s more of a ‘things are going too good for us right now’ type of feeling”

Right there with you! I’ve been a Bears fan for some 40 years now. It always feels like the ‘bottom is going to fall out’ – – especially when it feels like we’re on a path towards having a competitive football team. I’ve learned to ‘temper my expectations’ – – and ask myself: “Why can’t the Bears have nice things?” [Big SIGH – – shaking my head]

100% agree, koolaid, but I’m a Bears fan. Things can go sideways very rapidly for us. Offensively, Teven’s health will always be a concern. Keenan is the other guy I’m worried about.

It’s more of a “things are going too good for us right now” type of feeling.

I’m not disagreeing with what you originally said nor what you said in rebuttle. I like Keenan for this year for sure if anything he’s going to be a great tutor for Rome. I really like Rome. I think he’s going to surprise a lot people this year because he’s buried behind DJ and Keenan.

@koolaid. I’m a big Keenan fan for years. We need DJ, who is going to be around longer, to be on our QB’s timing. Like Kelce with Mahomes, Welker and Edelman with Brady. Our QB can extend plays. He needs DJ to be synched up with him the entirety of the play. At Keenan’s age, a lower body injury can cause a rapid decline. He can fill a Mush or BM role, later in his career due to his physicality in his route.

DJ definitely a badazz.. and he’s just beginning to peak. You are correct Dr. Melhus, Omar has blown the Qb situation for awhile now. Just the wrong moves at every turn. Just the kind of moves that cost Pace his job here. Gena thinks he’s a God. Every GM makes good moves and some bad but blunders at the QB position are amplified. Sure Poles made one mistake at WR…but then made up for it big time. Hopefully he will do the same with the O line after the Davis situation. But both of those mistakes pale in comparison to… Read more »
