Here Is Every Chicago Bears Trade Rumor Ahead Of The Deadline

-

The Chicago Bears are 2-6. Their hopes of making a surprise run to the playoffs appear dead. It is a team that firmly remains in rebuild mode. GM Ryan Poles has a lot of work ahead of them. Next on the agenda is deciding what to do at the NFL trade deadline. It arrives at 4:00 CST on October 31st. Poles isn’t shy about making deals. He engineered a few last season. Given where his team sits, it’s not ridiculous to think he might pull another with the long-term interests of his franchise in mind.

Unsurprisingly, this has led to a few rumors popping up with less than 24 hours to go. Let’s review them and see where the Bears stand.

Chicago Bears interested in Washington defensive end Chase Young

After watching the defensive line look irrelevant on Sunday night against the Chargers, it’s not difficult to believe the rumor from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk that Chicago is interested in the former #2 pick. Young is having a significant rebound season. His knee looks healthy after several months of rehab. He’s still only 24 years old, and he is an instant upgrade over anything the Bears have on the roster. It comes down to how much Washington wants for him and whether Poles will be aggressive after the Chase Claypool debacle.

Three teams are trying to engage on Jaylon Johnson

Johnson did two things with his great game against the Raiders. He upped his bargaining leverage in contract talks, and he also upped his trade value. Multiple insiders report the 49ers, Cowboys, and Bills all have significant interest in Johnson. Good corners are hard to find. He’s 24 and still playing on his rookie contract. If Roquan Smith could fetch a 2nd round pick, so can he. Having multiple teams involved should only increase the Chicago Bears’ leverage. However, most reports suggest Poles would prefer to keep him if possible.

Justin Fields to Washington is buzzing in league circles

This one doesn’t have the same foundation as the other two. There isn’t as much confirmation. However, Matt Lombardo is a notable insider, and he’s heard from people inside the league that Fields being moved isn’t out of the realm of possibility. It is difficult to believe this is likely. However, there was an unexpected twist on Monday. After strong speculation from last week that Fields might return next Sunday in New Orleans, head coach Matt Eberflus shut that down. Tyson Bagent will start. Now, either that is Fields’ thumb still not being ready, or it’s a clever ploy by the team to keep him off the field until a deal goes through.

Fields for Young, no draft picks exchanged, but the Bears insist on Washington taking Velus Jones in the deal.
