Rob Ninkovich is a name a lot of football fans probably remember. While never a star, the versatile pass rusher had some standout successes in his NFL career. Most notably with the New England Patriots. In his career, he’s played with both Tom Brady and Drees Brees. So his opinion on quarterbacks carries a lot of weight. That is what made his recent statement about Nick Foles so interesting.
During a segment of ESPN’s Get Up, the former linebacker was asked to make a bold prediction about the rest of this 2020 season. The native of Blue Island, Illinois stuck close to his roots by stating that Foles would stun the everybody by leading the Chicago Bears to an NFC North division championship.
Suffice to say his colleague Ryan Clark, a notorious Bears critic, didn’t buy into that idea at all.
Nick Foles still has plenty of doubters to silence
Clark and Ninkovich basically represented the entire Foles discussion in a nutshell. There are those who think he’s always been a backup and continue to reference his ugly run in Jacksonville as prime evidence. Others believe he’s proven he can win when actually given pieces to work with as was the case two different times in Philadelphia.

This latest opportunity with Chicago may end up being his last chance to show people who he is. Winning the division would certainly qualify as a massive statement. The problem is, as always, the Green Bay Packers stand in the way. Aaron Rodgers is off to one of the best starts of his career. Nobody believes for a second the Bears can take him down.
Why should they? He’s owned Chicago since he took over more than a decade ago. In that context, it’s little wonder Ninkovich felt his prediction was suitably bold. Foles taking down the mighty Rodgers like that would be the height of unexpected.
