#3: Bobby Layne (1948)
The heartbreaking part about this is Bobby Layne became a six-time Pro Bowler and future Hall of Famer during his time with the Detroit Lions. He led them to a pair of NFL championships and also cursed the franchise to endless disappointment after they dared to trade him away. What many don’t remember is it was the Bears who drafted him back in 1948. After a year as a backup though, he asked to be dealt elsewhere. Chicago spent the rest of the 1950s regretting that mistake.
