Ashton Jeanty feels like that one prospect who could dictate what happens for the Chicago Bears in this 2025 draft. Almost everybody with credibility believes their #10 spot is his floor. Head coach Ben Johnson won’t pass on the chance to draft a running back with legitimate star power, considering how his offense is built around the ground game. The only uncertainty is whether another team in the top 10 might take him first. Most don’t think it will happen. However, one top draft insider does.
Charlie Campbell of Walter Football has some of the more reliable sources in the industry this time of year. The proof is from last year when he correctly pinpointed ten of the first twelve picks. His info is good and he has some interesting stuff as the 2025 draft moves closer. The latest is a belief that Jeanty will indeed fall to the Bears. He mapped it out recently.
- Cam Ward, Abdul Carter, and Travis Hunter all go in the top three, as expected.
- New England and Jacksonville both grab top offensive linemen at #4 and #5.
Here is where the pivot point comes.
6. Las Vegas Raiders: Will Johnson, CB, Michigan
The Raiders could use a No. 1 corner. Johnson is a big corner that fits Pete Carroll well. In 2024, Johnson recorded 14 tackles, two interceptions (both returned for touchdowns), and three passes defended. He returned 86 yards for a touchdown.
Campbell believes the Raiders will be focused on improving their secondary. GM John Spytek and part owner Tom Brady both have Michigan connections. Carroll also isn’t shy about taking cornerback early. Seattle took Devon Witherspoon 5th overall in 2023.
From there, the path for Ashton Jeanty is clear.
New York doesn’t need a running back at #7. They opt for defensive tackle Mason Graham. Carolina goes defense as well at #8. That just leaves New Orleans at #9, who pull a minor surprise by going with Penn State tight end Tyler Warren. It is an odd move after they just re-signed Juwan Johnson. However, head coach Kellen Moore proved in Philadelphia he likes having two tight ends. A combo of Warren and Johnson would be hard to stop. That allows the Bears to get their guy.

As we all know, the draft often features wild cards. Nobody saw the Michael Penix pick coming last year from Atlanta. Such a thing could happen again. One of those teams who don’t “need” a running back could fall in love with Ashton Jeanty and simply take him. Still, Campbell’s path is probably the most logical out there. Every move save for the Saints isn’t hard to sell, and running back isn’t likely to be the most pressing need on their board. It will be fascinating to see if this is how it unfolds.

Personally, if Graham is available at #7, I’m trading up for him.
I’m hopeful. He’s the consistent work-horse back we need. It changes and opens up everything.
I am having a hard time seeing this happen. Raiders probably take Jeanty. One issue with Jeanty is he doesn’t block well which prevents you from starting day one- esp in Ben’s Offense.
Ben is seeking all-around widely skilled FB players who can block and have speed.
Freakish guys who don’t have those skillsets might be considered but probably not.
So the norms and hypes can be laughed off for the most part.
