DJ Moore Sends Message To Caleb Williams On Replacing Justin Fields

-

On Thursday morning, DJ Moore spoke with 670 The Score, sharing that he’s still coming to terms with the aftermath of the surprising Justin Fields trade. Recognizing the NFL’s business nature, Moore admitted he was taken back by the trade. When asked about how the Bears next quarterback, likely Caleb Williams, could gain the respect of the locker room, Moore had a direct message for the rookie quarterback.

“I hope he just comes in and gets ready to work. You can’t worry about the legacy of Justin Fields. You got to go out there and worry (about your own thing).”

Caleb Williams is ready for the task.

On the Up and Adams show with Kay Adams, Jaylon Johnson emphasized the importance of hard work for rookies like Williams to earn the respect of veterans. Williams appears prepared for this challenge given his reported competitiveness and leadership inside both the Oklahoma and USC locker rooms. How he leads the team and interacts with his new teammates will be crucial early on in Chicago, alongside his performance on the field. While winning can solve many issues, Williams will also be judged on how he conducts himself off the field, much like Justin Fields did during his time with the Bears. Though Fields legacy isn’t daunting to surpass considering the team’s rebuilding phase during his tenure, it’s his leadership at Halas that veterans will expect Williams to emulate. Is that fair to ask of a rookie? Probably not. But if the team wins, it will be a much easier path to follow. And with all the weapons added this off-season with a few still likely on the way, the Bears finally seemed poised to take advantage of a QB on a rookie contract.

Whichever QB gets drafted BETTER perform much better than Justin did. Especially since the team that QB will be inheriting will be light years ahead of what Justin ever had. In addition, the coaching should be markedly better than what Justin had.

Full disclosure – I am from Chicago, born and raised, and have been a diehard BEARS FAN for over 5 decades! I am also an Ohio State graduate and ALL BUCKEYE, All Day Everyday. Consequently, I am a huge fan of Justin Fields. I remember having mixed feelings when the Bears drafted him. On one hand, I was excited that we could FINALLY have a franchise QB. On the other hand, I knew he was drafted into an organization that was basically Fubar. He never had a chance in Chicago, he was doomed from the start. I’m glad that he… Read more »

, In order for a quarterback to step up into the pocket, there needs to be a pocket to step in to.

I have been a Bears fan longer than most of the fans on here and longer than most of the insiders, writers and analysts in the Bears media circus. R Poles has done a very solid job getting this base roster up to contention as the foundation for a SB play off team. I also believe J Fields with this same roster could take this team to the play-offs, but then again, I also believe T Bagent could very well accomplish the same feat with this current roster; I also believe C Williams or any of the top 6-7 QBs… Read more »
