Coleman Shelton Won’t Like Recent Trade News

-

The trade deadline is still two weeks away, but the action has already started. Wide receiver has been the hot position of late. Amari Cooper went to Buffalo. Davante Adams went to New York. Now, DeAndre Hopkins is leaving Tennessee to join the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs. However, he isn’t the only one. The Titans swung another deal on the same day that directly impacted the Chicago Bears. Seattle sent veteran linebacker Jerome Baker and a 4th round pick their way in exchange for linebacker Ernest Jones. It marks the second time this season Jones has been traded. This likely won’t make Coleman Shelton happy.

Chicago’s starting center encountered Jones on opening day last month when the Bears hosted the Titans. It resulted in one of the highlights of the afternoon. On the play, Jones brought a blitz and drove Shelton onto his back, leading to an incomplete pass by Caleb Williams due to the pressure.

Coleman Shelton better get ready for the rematch.

The Bears play the Seattle Seahawks later this year. Their new head coach, Mike McDonald, is known for being creative with his blitz calls. Since the Seahawks have struggled to apply pressure with four, it is obvious they hope to use Jones as an extra attacker, which has been his strength. Coleman Shelton found that out the hard way, although in his defense, it appears Teven Jenkins tripped him on the play. Regardless, this makes the challenge even more difficult for the Bears offense. Though they have gotten a lot better at picking up blitzes, McDonald is one of the best at knowing when and where to bring them. Jones is exactly the type of weapon he can exploit. Shelton needs to be fully prepared.

Chicago plays the Seahawks on the day after Christmas.

I think that Shelton should be licking his chops, ready for a chance to get even with Jones. Now that the line is playing more coherently, Teven is far less likely to trip Shelton. Besides, by that point, every team in the NFL will be different. Hopefully the Bears just have three losses and are pretty much a lock for the playoffs, the Packers are stuck on 5 wins, and Minnesota and Detroit have faded a bit, leaving the Bears on top of the North. Hey, a fan can hope, ….

BDTX, I think you and your clan of hyenas were spotted inside the Dixie Boy Truck Stop when shooting the film Maximum Overdrive, getting your education in life. You were the “Fat Man” and Rooster was the inbred on honeymoon with his pumpkin wife. I’m so embarrassed.

Vote + if you think I should be; Vote – if you think I should not be.

@Sallie – You may have never been embarrassed in all your years playing, which I severely doubt, but you are definitely an embarrassment every day on this site with your asinine comments.

Honestly, I would rather the world watched me eat my own magic nose goblin than get de-flowered like Shelton was. Teven didn’t block anyone at all on that play, BTW.
