The Chicago Bears believe their job will be the most attractive on the upcoming carousel. Team president Kevin Warren said as much during his recent press conference—some struggle to believe that, noting the organization’s ongoing dysfunction for the past decade. Still, the sales pitch seems strong. Caleb Williams looks exactly like a future star quarterback after going #1 overall. The roster is well-stocked, with talent on both sides of the ball. Things are set up for this team to compete if they get the right coach.
However, one unexpected wrinkle could complicate matters for the Bears. No, it isn’t the awkward way they fired Eberflus right after a press conference where he said he planned to be ready for San Francisco. It is something much simpler than that, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. Candidates are wary of coming to the NFC North.
“A far as jobs that could be more attractive than what the Bears offer, perhaps Jacksonville is the answer. Should the Jaguars’ head-coaching and general manager jobs open at season’s end, that could be a better place to go, thanks to a weaker division, a long-term quarterback in place and the chance to build something from the ground up.”
The Chicago Bears present a difficult path to a championship.
Getting to the playoffs is hard enough in normal circumstances. Having to battle through the deepest division in football makes it that much worse. Detroit, Green Bay, and Minnesota all have nine wins this season already. Each has a relatively young, proven head coach and a quarterback they feel they will compete with for years to come. The Chicago Bears feel they have their quarterback, but it will take a coach with monumental resilience, resourcefulness, and competitiveness to take on a challenge like this. It isn’t something you can blame the organization for. They didn’t intentionally make this division a gauntlet. Things just worked out that way.
If anything, it might be a blessing in disguise. Coaches who shy away from the job for this reason will show the Bears they lack the backbone to take on the NFL’s best. Better to find someone who embraces the challenge. To be the man, you have to beat the man.

@BearDownTX I don’t make shit up, it’s no secret Ryan Poles wasn’t a fan of David Montgomery so he low balled him.
We were in on Saquon too, same thing happened, Poles low balled him and he took the bigger bag 💰
So not only r u a Ryan Poles Nut Sack Holder but you hold the Nut Sacks of Travis Homer and. Devante Swift, do you feel good holding all those Nut Sacks.?
Quit making up shit @Skee – Montgomery was offered to stay with the Bears and he chose to leave for the Lions. He knew the Bears were headed for a lengthy rebuild and decided to go with the Lions bc of more guaranteed money.
The Bears never had a shot at Saquon! The Eagles were #1 on his list because he is from the area and played college near there as well at Penn State.
But keep making up shit.
@jmscooby — Can the Bears IOL be improved by a GM whose last two, significant (using cost as the determinative factor,l additions to the O-line have played a total of 159 offensive plays, in 2024? Ryan Bates was acquired from the Bills for a fifth-round pick, a day before he certainly would have been released — and ultimately cost Poles a 2025 fourth-round pick — in a “hold my beer trade” to reclaim that original 2024 #144 pick — in order to select Austin Booker (you can’t make this stuff up). Bates and his arthritic shoulder and elbow have appeared… Read more »
You’re not likely to get someone who’s “up for a challenge”. Every coaching job in the NFL is a challenge. You’re likely to get someone who’s desperate for a HC job. Anyone who’s got options with a better organization would be a fool not to take it. This is pure wishful thinking.
Amazing. Both Detroit and Minnesota, and to a lesser extent GB, have all built really strong teams while the Bears fiddled around during the Poles, and tail-end of the Pace eras. And yet people still think the Mouth of George hasn’t had enough time to build a team that can seriously challenge for a playoff spot. Guess what? It isn’t more time that is needed. It’s more production out of guys the MOG brought in – Edmunds, Allen, Lewis, Everett, Bates, DJ Moore, Sweat, Stevenson, Pickens… even Kmet is having a poorer year. If these guys produce, you should be… Read more »
