Chicago Bears Star Player Unhappy Over Justin Fields Trade

-

Late Saturday evening, the Chicago Bears made the decision to trade Justin Fields to Pittsburgh for a minimal return. Officially, Fields was traded for a 6th round pick, which could potentially upgrade to a 4th rounder depending on his playing time next season. This move surprised both the NFL community and the passionate Chicago fanbase. Despite the shock, the Bears locker room might be the most on edge. Bears safety Jaquan Brisker, who was particularly close with Fields, took to social media with his thoughts on the trade: “Don’t talk to me.”

Once again, Justin established himself as a leader within the team’s locker room. The Bears released a statement from GM Ryan Poles, applauding Justin’s strong work ethic. They also made it clear that they had a discussion with him, outlining the reasons for their decision to part ways. Their goal was to handle the situation with integrity and do right by him.

If the Bears hadn’t held the first overall pick for the second year in a row, it’s likely that Fields would still be part of the team. However, the NFL operates as a business, and Ryan Poles felt the need to go another direction at quarterback, likely drafting USC superstar Caleb Williams next month. While I believe Fields was dealt a bad hand in Chicago, the harsh reality is that the league can be unforgiving. It’s possible that others within the organization share the same viewpoint as Jaquan Brisker, although few may voice it as openly as he did. As for whether Ryan Poles has lost the trust of the locker room, it seems unlikely, although the pressure now shifts to whoever, likely Caleb Williams, takes over as quarterback next season.

@Tred You can kind of just read the room as to why Fields was dealt now. Poles, having done diligence on Caleb Williams, has determined that Caleb won’t react well to having to complete with Fields for QB1, so he dealt Fields to avoid that situation. This is exactly what’s being reported today, by folks who have sources inside the building. If I were to editorialize this evidence, I would say that Poles dealt Fields so that Caleb doesn’t have to compete with a quarterback who’s more talented and athletically gifted than he is. But that’s just me. Regardless, the… Read more »

Exactly! No NC repeat with Maye/MT.

Poles is going to trade spots with Washington. #1 for #2, gain two 2nds, and possiblly the 3rd they got for Howell, or #1 next year. Same as Carolina.

Let the CW hype train keep chugging along. Meanwhile we get this year’s Heisman winner, along with much needed draft capital.

Poles will turn 4 draft picks into 8-10 picks with at least 3 blue-chip players.

Well, now Poles has made his decision at starting over at QB. The question now is, will it be CW, or someone else? He has to nail his QB choice, or he’s GONE! The silver lining in this is, he’s shown an ability to identify talent. He has learned from a prestigious line of GM’s, and participated in the selection of the best QB in the NFL, (Mahomes). Let’s see if he goes a different direction. Washington has maneuvered itself to go after CW, it seems. And if Poles decides to leverage the #1 pick for #2, plus a bunch… Read more »

@jmscooby none of these writers have credentials to determine if anyone is a starter or backup. You excuse Poles for keeping Getsy in Fields’ year 2 as if that wasn’t his responsibility. Several of those losses last year were based on coaching decisions and yet Eberflues continues as the head coach. That too is a Poles decision. Banking so much on a rookie QB is a recipe for disaster. Is Stroud going to always have better outcomes than Young? No one knows yet if that is going to happen. If Poles picks the right QB, do we really think that… Read more »
