The Chicago Bears draft approach to this point has been anything but subtle. All signs have pointed in almost the exact same direction. This team is looking to make a change at running back. Truthfully this seed was planted a year ago when rumors began that they were open to the idea of trading Jordan Howard. For all his productivity with the team, new head coach Matt Nagy apparently doesn’t seem him as a good fit for this offense.
It’s hard to argue his point. Howard struggled most of the year in 2018. He scored nine touchdowns, but also averaged well under four yards per carry. He had some good games, but also a lot of underwhelming ones. His 10 carries for 35 yards in the playoff loss to Philadelphia also didn’t help his case.
The Bears already signed Mike Davis in free agency, but it’s believed another move is coming. Most likely in the draft. That much has been certain from the sheer number of names they’ve been connected to via meetings at the Senior Bowl, scouting combine, and now pro days. Miles Sanders, David Montgomery, Devin Singletary, Devine Ozigbo, and Ryquell Armstead stand among them.
Add another to the list.

Chicago Bears Mike Weber interest isn’t hard to understand
One thing that has been true about Ohio State for the best several years? They’re quite adept at producing good running backs. Beanie Wells, Carlos Hyde, and Ezekiel Elliott stand among the big names of the past decade alone. Yet strangely the team wasn’t driven by their run game in 2018, instead riding the right arm of Dwayne Haskins.
That’s unfortunate because Mike Weber appears to be a talented player. He has a good mix of adequate size, quickness, and underrated speed. He doesn’t go down easily on arm tackles and has a sudden cutting ability. His vision is excellent, often able to find the hole and set up blocks on the second level to spring big runs.
The problem experts seem to have with him is he’s not back who seems able to create for himself. He’s reliant on his offensive line to do a lot of the work. Suffice to say he’s probably not going to be a workhorse player. However, his skill set is strong enough to where he can be a nice piece in a committee backfield.
