The Chicago Bears draft plans are unknown to everybody outside Halas Hall. All people can do at this point is make educated guesses about what they may or may not be aiming to do. The simple answer? Make the offense better. Every single position group could use some attention but the three biggest are obviously quarterback, offensive line, and wide receiver.
Some people may be confused by that last one. They shouldn’t be. Chicago has serious questions at the receiver position. Allen Robinson is a pending free agent. There is no guarantee the team will bring him back. Even on the franchise tag. Anthony Miller regressed in a big way this past season and has become untrustworthy. Javon Wims? He never proved himself as anything more than a solid blocker.
Their only certainty at this point is Darnell Mooney. That isn’t enough.
Even if they end up adding a quarterback via the trade market or early in the draft, they’ll need to find him weapons. It appears they’ve begun the process of finding them down at the Senior Bowl in Alabama. According to Zack Pearson of Bear Report, the team is scheduled to have a personal meeting with Oklahoma State receiver Tylan Wallace.
This kid has been a steady, reliable presence for three years with at least 900 yards in each season. While not the biggest or fastest, he has enough size and speed to make defenses respect him. Where he really stands out is during and after the catch. His hand-eye coordination and body control is excellent. Then he shows off his strength by being tough to tackle with the ball in his hands.

I talked to WR Tylan Wallace at the #SeniorBowl last night and he told me that he’s scheduled to meet with the #Bears today.

Chicago Bears focus has been strictly offense thus far
At least based on leaks coming out of Mobile. They were spotted measuring up Northern Iowa right tackle Spencer Brown before practices began. Then they met with North Carolina running back Michael Carter. It’s apparent they have plans to do anything and everything they can to make their offense viable in 2021. An absolute necessity given the daunting schedule they’re staring down.
One thing about the Chicago Bears is they seem to have a solid eye for talent. Mooney is the latest example. By the sound of things, Wallace has been having himself a strong series of practices down there. If he can follow that up with a standout performance in the game itself? That should build some momentum for him going into the draft. Usually, the Senior Bowl is good at showcasing possible future NFL standouts.
It’s likely he won’t be the last name connected to them before the week ends.
What people really want to hear about is if any of the quarterbacks had meetings with Chicago. Alabama’s Mac Jones has put on a show all week long and is considered by far the best down there. Others like Kellen Mond and Jamie Newman have gotten plenty of attention as well. There is a lot of talent on those rosters but few proven names to this point. Those interviews could prove crucial for the Bears.
