Chicago Bears’ Latest Interview Request Is By Far The Most Interesting Yet

-

The Chicago Bears don’t seem to care about anybody’s opinion that their head coaching search is too large. They just hit the 20-name mark with the latest update from Tom Pelissero and other insiders. GM Ryan Poles has requested an interview with Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich. This is the first time any team has decided to meet with him since taking over that job in 2022. Many fans will shrug their shoulders or grow indignant at the Bears interviewing such a nobody.

That would be a mistake. In his short time in the NFL, Stenavich has established himself as one of the best offensive line experts in football. During his stint with them, the Packers have never allowed more than 36 sacks in a season, and they’ve ranked 15th or better in rushing all but once. That doesn’t even include the good work he’s done developing Green Bay’s young receivers like Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Romeo Dobbs, and Christian Watson.

The Chicago Bears are justified in meeting with Stenavich.

After all, if for no other reason, hiring him would likely fix so many of the problems bedeviling their offensive line. Beyond that, coaches from that background have more success at the head job than you might think. Andy Reid was an offensive line coach when he came up through the NFL. Now he’s a future Hall of Famer. Chuck Knox won 186 games with the Rams, Seahawks, and Bills. Joe Gibbs won three Super Bowls in Washington. Reid listed several reasons men from that background make good head coaches.

  • Can reach the core of men while getting them to reach their potential
  • Know how to listen – big ears, observing eyes, and small voice until needed
  • Know that working together leads to success (need to be effective 90% of the time – working toward 100%) and know how to build it
  • Know the QB position better than anyone – What makes them tick. Get a good sense of who is special at that position
  • Don’t expect or need compliments
  • In our own world – others don’t understand it and underestimate how hard the job is
  • The GRIND – We understand toughness
  • We know repetition is crucial – repeat it daily.

Stenavich might not be the favorite for the Chicago Bears job, but he’s well deserving of an interview. His track record speaks for itself. When you’re one of the best in the business at what you do, it is foolish not to consider what he could accomplish running an entire team.

Let them interview 100 candidates. They have the free time.

Is Bears management openly trolling the fan base now? 2 seasons as OC where the HC is actually running the offense?? Notable accomplishments: less than 40 sacks each of the two seasons he was honorary OC, top half of the league rushing each of his 2 seasons as honorary OC? This is a joke right?

What about the coaching search so far makes you say that Warren, George and the rest aren’t “being accountable”? I ask because assuming you’re like most and you want Ben Johnson, then would you prefer they just sit quietly staring at each other until they are actually allowed to meet Johnson in person? Seriously, I don’t quite get why people are getting so damn pissed off over them talking to a bunch of different coaches.

Obviously Warren’s lack of actually ever running a professional football team is showing up big time. The guy has no idea what he’s doing. Remember he’s in on every interview and overseeing every move they make. Another terrible hire by Mc Crapskey. George needs hire a garbage company to come collect the garbage he’s accumulated. I guess this is why Warren only lasts a few years before he moves on before people figure out he’s a sham. Con man Warren easley conned curious George into thinking he could run the Bears. 2 years of nothing from Warren as I see… Read more »
