Chicago Bears Introduce Their Own Version Of Hard Knocks

-

The Chicago Bears had to know that one of their biggest issues going into this summer was one they never would’ve guessed. That being fan interaction. In normal years, fans would be swarming training camp practices to watch their favorite team prepare for another year. However, the presence of COVID-19 made that impossible for 2020.

Thus with nothing to chew on, the buzz around the team has been practically non-existent. So what does the team do? How do they engage the fans in such a situation? It appears the media crew, with the blessing ownership, has decided to produce something special.

According to the team website, a new web series will debut on August 17th. One that will showcase training camp in every aspect. That includes on-field drills and team meetings. Players and coaches will be mic’d up. It’s an exciting prospect, to say the least.

These are the moments “1920 Football Drive” seeks to share with Bears fans everywhere. The first episode will be released Monday at 8:00 p.m.

The idea for “1920 Football Drive” has been in the works for several seasons, but when the Bears moved training camp to Halas Hall and the Coronavirus pandemic eliminated the ability to have fans at practice, it provided a strong motivation.

“Because we don’t have fans at training camp,” said Greg Miller, the team’s Vice President of Content and Innovation, “we wanted to make an effort to bring as much of training camp to the fans as possible.”

The series will give an in-depth look into the day-to-day process that goes into being a part of a professional football team.

Chicago Bears essentially are producing their own “Hard Knocks”

Any self-respecting football fan has probably heard of the acclaimed HBO television series “Hard Knocks.” It details the journey of a team from throughout their training camp and preseason during a given year. Everything is covered from position battles to backstage drama and everything in between. While it’s unlikely the Bears will grant that kind of personal access, this series is somewhat similar.

Subscribe to the BFR Youtube channel and ride shotgun with Dave and Ficky as they break down Bears football like nobody else.

Considering the other options was virtual silence from a media who has limited access to the team already? This is very much something worth getting into. It should be a fun ride. Especially if the Bears do the right thing and put the quarterback competition front and center.
